Hello everyone, First post here. I was wanting to know what the factory speaker locations on an 01 Xtreme Blazer would be? I know there are 2 in the door panel, and two in the rear. Now My real question is, Is there supposed to be 2 speakers in the dash under those grilles? I dont think I have any in there due to no sound in that area! Is it possible they are blown or I dont have any at all, THe Blazer came with the standard tape deck, no power windows, or locks. I know for a fact when I bought the thing (2 weeks ago) That the rear drivers speaker isnt working. Is this a common falure on this blazer? what would cause just 1 speaker to go?
I just replaced the factory head unit with a Pioneer SuperTunnerIII D and thought maybe my factory radio had a few channels blown but obviously not b/c with the new radio I'm still having those areas with no sound.
All help Appreciated!

Yep the rears are a PITA!!! 12volt car is what I do. The dash speakers are only present in a Blazer with a premium audio setup. Since GM uses the same dash in all S-series trucks, they are openings for a 4x6" speaker. A reg. cab truck will have a 4x6 in the dash off the front channels and a 6.75 or 6.5 in the door off the rear channels. A Blazer will have a 6.5 or 6.75 in the door off the front channels and a 6x9 in the rear sides off the rear channels. The Blazer will have a tweeter plate in the 4x6 opening if equipped with that audio setup. A black cover is beneath the grille if not. However it isnt uncommon for the tweets to be blown. Contrary to popular belief, Distiortion and not Overpowering a speaker is most of the time the cause of speaker failure. Distortion happens a number of ways. You couls add the dash 4x6s if you wanted too but will most likely have to add the wires there(some had it and some not) if there isnt speakers up there. Not really what Id invest in first if you are upgrading. If the rear was inop B4 you put in the new deck its probably a bad speaker. Have them replaced. Get some decent fronts too if you have the funds. You can get a set of the OEM angled 4x6 tweeter pods if you want better front imaging. Id get a matched componet set and the plate if you are a sound fanatic. I actually have a couple sets of them to sell. E-bay has them sometimes too. Which is where these are going soon. If you have any 12volt/audio question, Id be glad to give my professional help and opinions. Ive been a Certifed (nut) Professional for most of my 11+ yrs in the 12volt industry. Oh yeah--Welcome to the PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya only the premium audio edition blazer had the front dash speaker, but you could put a speaker up there and get better sound also. The doors are easy to change now the rear speakers on the other hand are not fun at all.

Only problem with adding addional speakers up in the dash when equipped with all the others is, if you connect them together, say attach the dash and doors in parallel, you will put the impedence load at 2ohm and overstress the outputs. Internal deck amp will decease. A componet with the tweeter up there is a safer choice. Personally Id manupulate it to make it work safely, because I can, but for the avg. guy or a simple $30.00 install at a retail outlet this is just more to figure out. Letus know what UR going to get and do. =) Help is given here for free as always =):D
