Have 1987 Chevy S-10 BLazer 2WD with 2.8 liter and 700R4 automatic. Can't get the rebuild right even from a tranny re-builder. So will a 4 speed manual transmission from a 1982 GMC S-15 with a 2.8 liter fit my block. I haven't done any measuring yet so any driveshaft swapping is considered as well. I have both vehicles complete but need one that will run reliably. The S-10 was good until about the 275,000 mile mark, then the transmission pump went out and it hasn't been the same since. Someone with the knowledge on the potential swap please help!

Yup, just make sure that you use a trans from a 2.8, nothing else will bolt up.

Thanks, I own both vehicles. Just didn't know if the engines were identical for bolt up. Do you know if the wheel base is identical?

With a little duct tape, anythings possible! j/k man, just like t man said use components from the same size motor and there should be no probs, converted an old jeep to a manual once, if you got the whole driveline to each, its really quite simple.

Latest issue with this swap is that clutch linkage on 1982 S-15 is cable set-up. I cannot get the dowell pin out of the s-15 engine block and the S-120 does not have the plate for the frame side to hold the linkage shaft on where the cable comes through the firewall. Any ideas where a cable linkage kit of this sort may be bought?

got your email

Why not go to a hydraulic setup like the 85 or so and laters?

..that would also allow for better clutch feel, too.
