When i have a bunch of stuff in the back of my truck under load I notice that if I take off hard or hit a bump I hear a popping coming from underneath the arm rest on the center consol. It seems close to the tranny. So could this be a bad tranny mount?

Also when in four wheel drive If I take off fast I will hear another popping coming from the front axel. I think also I have noticed it occasiionly when I make left hand turns in 2wd. A tiny pop or clank can be heard but its not as loud as when its in 4x4.

that front axle sound is prolly a worn cv joint but the console sound has me confused, its really easy to check that trans mount, just slide under with a short pry bar and check for play, if it moves, its prolly bad, get a new one, easy as heck to change.

sounds like a bad trans mount to me. you can get a energy suspension poly replacement that would be better than stock.

Sounds like a bad tranny mount. In my Trans Am I had the same problem way back when. I replaced it and the rubber one broke a few months later again. That was with the 305ci. After a tranny rebuild I went back and got another rubber one. But with the hard shifts it lasted only a couple days. I got a Energy Suspension Poly mount and its been rokin for the past 8 yrs or so and a few trannys. I was sold!!! Which actually raises a question I had about my truck. Does the S-series use the same std. GM tranny mount that is in my F-Body? I was wanting to get one soon anyway and wanted to find out 1st. Its a 03 4.3 5sp if anyone has that bit of knowledge...Id appreciate it. THX
