View Full Version : Sea Foam on steroids
Ok, so I went to the chevy dealership today and bought some stuff called GM Top engine cleaner. My motor was running smooth as slik before I put it in there, but now that I have used it, it is idling rough. Im gonna go take it for a drive once i get off work and hopefully that will work. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? (I put it in there because I fouled 2 sets of plugs in the past week, and now that it is fixed, i cant imagine what the cylinders look like)

You have to change the plugs and the oil after using the TEC.

GM Top end cleaner is no more than Sea Foam Trans cleaner. The transcleaner is 100% cleaner and sea foam motor is diluted, this according to a sea foam rep I talked too. Yes it can loosen up so much crap that it will idle and run screwed up until all remnants of crap are completely removed and not standing in the way of things. Sea Foam should be done twice yearly to keep it clean, but once loaded up, oh boy the fu of it!
hey badv6blazer. why the oil? i can understand the plugs needing to be changed, but the oil? so i ran it for about 50 miles, onthe highway (bout 3000 rpm) cleaned it right up, idle is smooth, everything is ok, plus im not throwing a code 45 anymore. i dont want to change the plugs, because i changed them not 20 miles before i did the tec. if it is a problem i will change them again, it wasnt much for the set, so im not gonna *****. what was th last part of your post obi? i dont speak the same talk

You change the oil because the TEC dilutes it.New plugs you got in will probably be okay.

EGR valves shoild also be removed and cleaned, alot of times it loosens paticals up and they get caught in the valve which could be alot of the idle problems. Sea foamsa and others creep through everything and fluids should be changed 500 miles max from the useage!
