Hey there,

I've an 86 s15 Jimmy 2.8l 4x4 - first 4x4.

Recently developed a high speed shake, pulls to the right, right cv boot cracked - suspect bad bearing, shaft, something. Brake caliper new - no Brake drag, tire wear even - still tight - so don't think it's ball joint.
4x4 hi/lo works, seems to even out when in 4x4 so that's why I suspect it's the cv driveshaft.

What I'm looking for are some good tech diagrams, pictures - never taken it apart before. Need some info.

Note - I'll be swapping out my 2.8 replacing with a 3.4 (looking for power + decent mileage) this summer. 18mpg with no guts - loses power in a headwind to the point of downshifting.
Gotta say, I've never owned anything so gutless. What was GM thinking?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

About the only other thing that I dont see here is both the balance and alignment was not checked. Both of which can cause the exact same results. If you are getting the shakes around 50-55 mph thats your balance. the pulling you're describing sounds like the alignment (or possibly a tie-rod).

Yeah,

I'll check those over too. Ran it all winter and passed many a new car on the side of the road (@100 km a day). lol
Guess I can't complain too much.
