I have an 86 2.8L TBI and was wanting to eliminate everything on the engine that isn't needed. I hate vacuum lines the less i have the better is the way i see it. I heard of people removing the air pump and removing vacuum lines that aren't needed but not sure which ones to leave. Any direction would help.

find your self a vacuum digram of your engine and see what every thing goes to, then you can remove what you do not want, you just have to be carful becasue there are some things that use vacuum that you do not want to loose as in HVAC and 4x4 if you have that. Also you my get a constant check engine light after removing some of the stuff, but that can be taken care of with a compter chip tune

You have a feedback carb, removing the emissions system, or parts of it could acutally hinder your performance as opposed to helping it. (assuming thats what you are going for) the air pump on the 1st gens only pulls about 1/4 hp, so you arent exactally killing your power, all 98hp of it (factory)
