When using a CPI intake one of the largest limiting factors is the stock injector unit, it is prone to failure and it is very limited in the amount of power that it can handle. So i decided to convert mine to use six bosch style injectors and keep ii all contained with in the stock intake pleum. Thir requires a good amount of custom machining but with the help of RAT was no problem. The CPI intake has enough material that you cna just machine it directly for the injectors and don't have to use inserts. For the fuel rail i bought a 2 foot section of Dash 6 fuel rail extrusion and machined the rail for the injector tops. That is the point that im at now i still have to figure out the routing of the fuel lines inside the intake, my options are limited becasue of the tight space that is inside the CPI intake. Pics soon to follow

I finished one fuel rail only one more to go, ill have pics when i get battires for my camera

cool, hope to see em soon, kinda curious how this all goes together, if my cpi goes south i may try it!

It is? :D

Looks damn good though.

Sweet. someone on s-seriesforums.com did something like that & also had a supercharger. He put out some nice numbers with it.

Yea the stock injector is a limatation when your looking at the power levels im looking at

How much you looking to put down to the ground?

did you see whats going on this engine making me need larger injectors? Im putting a turbo on there, I am thinking that im going to see around 350-400 horsepower at the crank, thats just a guess though

Sweet. Excellent manifold to do it with also.

Update
I have finished fitting of the rails into the manifold now i just have to run the fuel lines into the intake

very cool. admitidly I'm not very familiar with those intakes but will those rails in there impede/disrupt airflow? Maybe if I saw the rest of the manifold it would make more sense to me.

yes air will be flowing a little different because of the injectors, but with boost the effects should not be apparent at all.

interesting.... I'd like to see this thing in action.

I think its coming along nicely

Very nice work. Airflow disruption will be minimal. What you don't see is how it gets into the 6 runners. It'll be nice, straight and smooth once it gets to that point.

Easy...pull the dogs off, i was kidding. What made you decide on the CPI manifold as oppsed to the marine manifold?

i went with the CPI intake because i want to keep it looking somewhat stock, I have extra CPI intakes laying around and i wanted to do something that nobody has really done yet, there are not many boosted CPI's out there

on the intake no, but im going to add a thread about my engine controls i just got my controller and am starting to put it together

What engine controls? Also, looking back at the pics, did you cut a portion out in the center between the front and rear 3 ports? Also is one of the rear openings (ports) ported out...it looks bigger

as for the engine controls you will have to wait to find out, On the intake i did not remove any material between the front and rear ports that is where the CPI injector sat, On the upper intake i did clearance the runner some so it would clear the fuel rails i have not ported the intake but i may before it goes on the truck

nope, this intake is for my brothers truck and he is not willing to help with anything so i have started to concentrate on my own project of putting a 5.3L into my 74 k-5

Not to hijack this thread.. buuuuttt.. you still flash ECMs?

1993blazerlt
06-10-08, 08:12 PM
what year ECM are you talking about? I have all the stuff for up to 93/94 OBD1, and im working on getting the stuff for LS bases ECU's because of my 5.3 swap

It'd be for the '92 blazer w/ the V8/NV3500..

yea what are you looking to have done?

I'm wondering if the ECM that's in the blazer right now (the stock 4.3 ECM) doesn't let the V8 run how it should I'd like to get the 5.0's ECM flashed for the bigger injectors the 4.3 has & the ZZ4 roller cam I swapped over.

whats the service numbers for both ECU's? The main difference between v8 and v6 is the memcal not the chip its self that can be flashed for any engine

Hammer Head
06-11-08, 07:35 PM
That'll take me a while to get to the 4.3's ECM. I have the 5.0's ECM sitting in the garage at the other house.. I'll go grab that number. I'd like to run the 4.3's bigger injectors than the 5.0's (TBI) & I want to be sure the ECM's programmed to run the bigger cam (ZZ4 roller) so the engine doesn't throw an emissions code or starve for fuel ..or whatever.

I'm going by this information, BTW, on injector flow.. http://s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3849
