How hard is it to replace it? Do i need any special tools?

Not hard at all. 2 bolts at the frame and one for the center link. You can smack the ball joint with a hammer to pop it out once the nut is off. Well not the ball joint, the part it goes into. Or you could get a tie rod separator.
Not going to take your truck to Bubba and Junior? They have probably done this a bunch of times too....hehe.

HELL NO!, im never going back there, id rather screw something up myself than pay someone to screw it up for me. But tomorrow or thursday, hopefully the idler arm, new Belltech shocks will be on. And for the first time in over a year, it will be aligned.

Thats how I feel. Why pay for it to get f*cked up when I can do a perfectly good job f*cking it up myself! Thats how you learn right?

It was bad before my little driveshaft incident, plus, I already got a all new driveshaft out of it for free.

I hope you're getting a quality (read expensive) idler arm. The cheapos have more slop in them after 30 days than the factory unit had in 5 years.

Yes, they're that bad. NAPA makes a nice one.

Hahaha....Im glad to see Droopy taking the Wildside sarcasm well. Bubba and Junior, your never gonna live that one down LOL. Idler arm is easy. If you feel better, you can rent the tools at most chain AutoParts stores. Or use the one on the shelf and return it after a good cleaning.

Agreed... NAPA chassis parts are usually VERY good. I go through idler arms pretty quickly too with the wheeling - but the NAPA one has been on there a year now and still seems pretty tight.

Also, check your pitman arm while you are there - bad pitman arms can cause premature wear to new idler arms.

I've gone for inspection, had it fail for a bad idler arm - picked one up on the way home, replaced it and was back for a sticker in a few hours.

A little old, but yesterday i finally had a full day to devote to this. Got the idler arm and 4 new shocks on. Rides a lot better, no more front end vibration at speed.
