everyone trying to get a new intake seems to be going for 2114's custom fabricated for injection - what would be the disadvantage to just sticking with the normal 2114 and switching to carb? no more computer crap! I would assume the main problem would be efficiency? i.e. fuel economy would go to crap? thanks for the input guys

How would you do this? For the longest time I've been wondering if I could do this to my 1997 4.3, and was wondering if you could find a way to just tune so the truck doesn't have to use the MAF or temp sensor anymore, and just buy the 2114 and get a holley carb, or something like that. Is that even possible? Thanks for posting up this thread, csledge!

how much would a 2114 and a holley go for? prolly just get the marine intake for a little bit more. and keep the fuel injection.

2114, cheapest I've seen is $239, and a holley 2 barrel 650 cfm goes for around $265, so maybe close to $500.

is the marine intake already set up for FI? or would you have to mod it to make it work? that's my main concern, i'd love to get a better intake on there, but I'm trying to avoid the $$$ of a machinist to play with it. so far as going carb goes, I would imagine once you got everything set up for carb, there would be nothing to "tune," as the computer would no longer be needed at all, true? Any tuning would be done on the carb itself. but I'm fairly new to this stuff, so please do correct me if I'm horribly mistaken!

you would have to put a distributor on there that would work without a computer, since the computer controls timing. once you stick a carb on there it won't run right cause the computer doesn't see what it wants.

from the little I know about the marine intake it is essentially our intake with real injectors. I don't know what it would cost to run one though maybe e-bay.

just looked around and found a little more - you're right, the marine is the same with real injectors. But the injectors are still not upgradeable, so pointless IMO

Anything bigger than a 450 4 barrell or 500 2 barrell Holley would be overkill on a basically stock 4.3 with some exhaust mods.
An 1850 Holley (600 CFM, Vacuum secondary) would work well with a tight spring in the vacuum actuator.

don't buy the factory rails and injectors and put some universal rails with some REAL, real injectors. Pretty much just buy the top and bottom halves of the manifold. No egr though.
universal rails can be had for under $50.

Yes it is, you can upgrade them to whatever you want.
Good luck finding one though.

rat did you ever think about using a marine base for you M90 project?
Considered, but couldn't find one.
Oh, and with a carb you will need a new transmission, or a controller for the trans if it is an auto.
The Intake for the TBI Comes with a free custome chip from edelbrock. The TBI Throttle body is 700 CFM and can support up to 400 HP why put a crappy obsolete carb in your truck.

Why put crappy obsolete '95 and down heads on it?

I personally don't see why people think the complete 2114 conversion is all that expensive. You gotta pay to play.
Once you get it, you'll find it's worth it.
it's a waste for what your trying to get...i can make the same power with $375 if u plan to stay around the 400hp range
