If you lower the rear of your truck 5" or more you will want to get rid of the bracket that GM decided to weld on. You will also need to remove it before you put in a notch if you are using bags. Be very careful not to cut too deep, the frame is something you don't really want to mess up.
Here is a list of tools;

Angle Grinder
Cut off wheels
Resin Wheels
Flap Wheel (recommended)
Hammer
Cold Chisel (recommended)Don't forget eye/ ear protection!

This is the big nasty bracket that belongs in the trash

You want to use the cut off wheel and cut 1/8" to 1/4 inside of the weld. Go Slow!

This is the point I decided to use the chisel in the cut. When the cut is deep enough you will see a split inside the cut. Once this happens take out your hammer and beat the snot out of it!

This step and the tools are up to you.
I went around with the cold chisel to remove anything that would come off with it. Next was the resin wheel 'cause they cost $2.00. I finished with a 100 grit flap wheel to make it all pretty.
