Ok, a few hours ago, one of my good friends, Brad, was riding his GSXR down the road, going around 70, from what I heard. Some dumass in a Ranger pulled out in front of him, and Brad T-boned him, bad, the truck flipped. He was launched, and as of now, he has 2 broke legs, 2 broke arms, several broke ribs, and collapsed lungs. The doctors lost him for a second, but they brought him back. He is in ICU, Intensive Care Unit, for now, at UT medical center. So, everyone who reads this, just do me a favor, and say a prayer for him.
Thanks
Drew

oh of course. I can't imagine going through that. My boyfriend had a friend who was killed in an accident while riding a motorcycle of some sort...I think he was under influence though. They were close friends, it was hard for him. So I kind of understand what you must be going through right now. And my boyfriend and I send you and your friend and everyone involved best wishes.

You got it, I am sure he'll pull through just fine! As those are all serious injuries, he is in good hands and there is nothing that can't be fixed. Will be thinking about him.

Heres a little update thats not so good. He is in a coma, or asleep whatever the technical term is. The docs are gonna keep him that way for about a week, then theyll wake him up. The only reason that he is alive right now is because hes hooked up to a bunch of machines. If they were to wake him up before then, there afraid that hell panic and, he might just leave us. His dad is really tore up about it, thats the only person Brad has, no mother no brother, nothing. And last night our welding teachers and principal came out to the hospital for support. Ill keep everyone updated as soon as i hear news, good or bad.

that's awful man, I really hope things turn out ok. Don't lose hope just because he's in a coma. my dad went septic after lung cancer surgery 2 years ago and dropped into a coma for almost 3 weeks. no one gave him any chance of living, even the ICU doctors but he pulled through and recovered fully. You're friend is probably much younger and stronger than my dad was so he's got a good chance. I'll be thinking about him

wow thats intense. i really hope he pulls through. rentedmule is right, don't lose hope because he is in a coma.

Im never gonna give up, but i saw the truck and the bike. The side of the truck is really bad, he hit right where the cab and bed connect. The bike, the forks are twisted, the gas tank is caved in on the sides. We think that he tensed up so hard just before impact that he bent in the tank.

Did the doctors put him in the comma? They did that to me for about a week a few years back so the machines could do their job and so I was not so uncomfortable.

I honestly dont know, i hope that they did though.

Got another update, with good news, and a little bad. First off, the doctors are gonna keep him in the coma for 2 weeks instead of the originally planned 1 week. And they turned down his respirator, so he is starting to breath on his own. And the internal bleeding stopped. They havent been able to find any signs of brain damage. So, everyone, please just keep praying for him and his family.
Thanks
But really, the only bad news is that some a**hole stole his tach out of the back of the wrecked truck. When they got it out, it was stuck at 12.5k rpm

Any word on the accedent investigation? Like who is at faul or if there was speed/alcohol involved? I hope everthing turns out OK. It looks like its going in a good direction, but you gotta know hes not out of trouble yet. Good friends and faith is definately on his side =)
droopy89
05-13-07, 10:40 PM
Havent really heard about that, but the truck pulled out in front of him, so im guessing its his fault. But, i really dont know cause Brad was speeding, about the limit but doubled. No alcohol on Brads part, the other guy, i dont know.

GREAT NEWS! He is gonna make it, he is responsive to peoples voices.
But, some a**hole stole his bike from the wrecking yard.

05-15-07, 12:05 AM
ya people steal **** from the yard all the time. i am suprised that it was not in a police impound since it was in a accident that is not solved yet
droopy89
05-15-07, 12:18 AM
no, this is different. It was in a locked down garage and someone broke in the garage and took the bike. All of us think that we know who took it.

great news, I hope his recovery goes smoothly! crappy news about the bike but that's minor relative to his health
droopy89
05-15-07, 03:50 PM
yea, thats what i was thinking. But all of us had a plan to chip in some money to fix his car, cause, no one will want him on a bike again.

I feel for you bro.I have a cousin who has permanent brain damage from a wreck were he was not wearing a helmet. Was in a comma 6 months and just know learning to walk and talk again.A bike wreck can be so bad from just a little impact.People just dont see a bike as a threat so they dont watch for them like they would a car.Thats why we bikers have to be twice as cautious to cars around us.I will pray for a speedy recovery for your friend.

yea i know, but, we have narrowed it down to about 2 or 3 people who couldve taken the bike

I would F*** up everything they owned, what a time to do something like that. BTW after I made all their possessions worthless I'd send the cops over to their house to catch them w/ the bike.

Shifted the cab...that was a hard impact. Amazingly the bike frame isnt that bad as one would think. I see the tank 'squeeze' you were talking about. Hope the bike theft is caught!

I think it mightve bent the frame on the truck a little, not 100% on that though

wow that really FUBARED up that ranger, i am glad to hear he will be awake shortly, I had a buddy wreck his R6. It was bad, broke 4 vertebre, 4 ribs, both collar bones. and had a collapsed lung. He was in the hospital for about 2 weeks and then went back in for a bone graft from his hip to collar bone.

Sometimes brain trauma takes a little while. Just his bodys way of getting right before moving on. Keep up the faith in him and be sure to go and see him. Alot of times they know youre there and talking to them. You just might not be able to tell.

we can tell, he twitches a little when we say something funny or bad

He's completely right, I had an old friend that was in the same state. When I went to see him, I stood there and held his hand and told him how I felt and more. When I was finished saying what I needed to say, he squeezed my hand. I've never felt that way before, nor do I think I'll ever have that feeling again. Not to say the same thing happens, but my buddy woke up brain dead. I will pray for your friend tonight. He will be ok.

im still healing from something of the same. i dont remember my accident. but appearently i was leaving my A school in pensacola fl. and i was heading north on i65. from what the whitnesses told the trooper, i was racing some silver or grey car. i heard mazda. the only thing that could keep up with a stock C4 is a turbo rx7. no idea. after i lost control and flipped, the guy split. left me to die. all the whitnesses pulled me outta the car. then it exploded. i lost everything. except my damn navy uniforms. wish those would have gone too. but i suffered a severe brain injury, 2 collapsed lungs, internal bleeding and a cracked rib. im full of scars. its sad. dont know why id be racing if i had to borrow gas money from my mom to get to virginia to visit my brother on leave. this all happened oct 21st of 06. last wed on the 6th was my fisrt time back in the navy for all that time i was gone. its horride down here to me. im only supposed to be down here for a medical evaluation to be medically discharged. i hope it happens. i dont remember any of my training, and bits and pieces of bootcamp. i cant run, my knees are messed up, and my back is bothering me a lot. so i see me as useless to the military now. i would be a lot safer back home with my family.

i just read your post. makes me sad since i was on the border of being brain dead. i feel for your friend. if my parents would have let the navy take me in, i probably would not be as well as i am today. i was in the shepherd center hospital in atlanta ga. the specialize in brain trauma and spinal injury. good place. but terrible hospital food.

That sucks to have to be going through especially at a young age. Hopefully things will go in the right direction for you. Adversity makes character stronger if you let it. Droopy....any updates. Its been a while since we last hears anything. Your friend is still in our thoughts.
