Not sure...I dont have EGR. But thermo housing is where the upper heater hose goes into the intake. Sould shoot in fron the drivers side. Cant remember the gasket or not. I do remember the thermo having a rubber seal in it.

there is a gasket. it is a circle rubber one that fits like a ring around the thermostat. gotta have that or it will leak.

Then you should be able to reuse the old one, but its cheap if you just want to get a replacement one from the auto-part store.

thermostat is under the housing that goes into the top of the intake manifold. The upper radiator hose attaches to theis housing and there are 2bolts holding it to the manifold. Requires partial coolant drain to crack open and replace but would be best done with a flush and fill...and maybe bew radiator/heater hoses at the same time.

a 160 will work fine on a 98^ only in the summer. if you try to run that in the winter the truck will never warm up all the way and it will throw codes after a while.

True. A 180* is a better all around thermo unless you live on the equator. Hehe
