View Full Version : Tire question
Sorry if this has been asked before, I've searched and haven't found anything that really answered the question.
I'm putting a small lift in my '96 S10 2WD so i can get bigger tires under it. I'm looking at a set of 31X10.50R15s and I'm wondering if any of you guys had any experience mounting this size tire on the stock 15" steelies? (or even if I'll get them under with a 2" body lift and/or 2" spindle/shackle)
If not, it would be great if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where there would be a nice rim to fit this size tire under the truck?
Any info at all would be excellent! :)

not sure if the stock rims would be wide enough.

I doubt they will fit, my couisin has a '94 Blazer 4X4 with a 4" lift and 31"s and the rub on hard turns.

You'd need at least an 8" wide rim.
thanks guys.
i figured it wouldn't work with stock rims.
31s rubbin on a 4" eh? any ideas on what size wont rub hard?

They'll work if you don't mind givin some backspace to them & have them stick out a little. Notice how ZR2's have a wider stance? I don't believe they rub & yes, I do know they have wider rears.
cool, thanks for the info.

31x10.50x15 is the biggest tire you can put on 15x7 wheel,
your going to need at least 5"-6" of lift to fit 31's on a 2nd generation 2wd S10 without heavy rubbing.
I wrote a tut on lifting 2wd S10's:

hope this helps, good luck:)
thanks, I've read that post, quite informative.
31" tires will rub, eh? what would be the biggest one i could get under with without rubbing with a 2" body and a 2" suspension?

30's and if you trim the rear of the front fenders 31's will work

I didn't read much further than this statement but anyways...
I have a ZR2 and my rim specs are 15x7 5x4.75 and 6" of BS
(or 5lbs of BS in a 10lb bag)
And they fit 31's and avoid the calipers. If you have any rub on the fenders.... just snip it away. as far as rub against the tierods or anything like that, just get some spacers or larger ones.
As far as I know the only rims with 6" BS is the "PA3"'s or the rims off my ZR2 or similar '01 blazers
30's and if you trim the rear of the front fenders 31's will work
cool, thanks.
