Well I have had it with the no bolt on, no upgrades for my 2.5L I think it time to do a motor swap. So what the best motor with the least amount of work, plus I looking for something around the budget of 5000.00 or less. I would just buy another truck but I like my 1987 s10 So guys help me out:D

I bought a Blazer with a 4.3/ 5-speed for $1000 and swap everything to my truck. I took about a day and a half from start to finish (driving).

For $5K a rebuilt and bumped up 4.3 swap would be easy and doable

small block chevy! :3gears: Completely possible in $5,000.... would need the engine & trans. + a little fab needed. But nothing you and a few gear head friends couldn't tackle in a weekend.

phhht. small block. get a 572!
seriously, look into a wrecked camaro or firebird with a ls1. buy the whole thing most of the time you can get them cheaper than 5k and just swap everything over. then sell whatever you don't need.

Yeah $5K has alot of feasible options. Just depends on what route you want to take. Swap ease, stock appeal or custom, fuel effeciency vs. balls to the wall power.......
fuel efficiency....pfffft......anyone who drives a v6 or bigger has already made a statement on fuel efficiency, right?

You want a 383? I've got all the parts here.. 5K budget you could do serious **** to your truck. Maybe even throw in an LS1...
