when a motor is stone cold like first thing in the morning why does it run so strong. when i start my truck up in the morning i can romp the pedal and the trottle responce is awesome. after a few min. it warms up and back to normal. i wish it would run like that all time. is it because it is cold and therefore the computer is feeding it more fuel. the rpm's in the morning after just starting are about 1000 then it will go down to normal in few min. i wish i could tweak something to get it to run like that. you know like that bad a** muscle car with a fat a** holley on it you just romp the pedal a little and you feel the power.
just curious

Its called PE stage. Powerenrichment for wamr up. Fuel is added at around a 13-13.5:1 ratio, timing is ramped up etc. Yeah she do run better and quicker, but not emissions freindly in the least. This is the area when you wear your cat out etc due to the excess fuel flow.

This is kind of related to my post (SES code 410) in that there is a eletric air pump that is only on during the PE stage that helps heat up the cat faster to prevent you from burnning it up on cold days when the idle is up.
