I don't know if these headers will work or not. I may need to get them cut up to fit tighter. There hookers made for the late model trucks like what Mykk has. The passenger side looks like it shoots off a little more towards the frame side than I'd like.. driver side may be alright if it doesnt clip the lower control arm mounts closest to the firewall & I can always u-joint my way around the headers for steering... we'll see. If they do I've got the sanderson shorties sittin here just incase. I even threw in a pic of the underdrive crank pulley I have compared to the OEM crank pulley.

I thought you had the Sanderson headers.

I thought you had the Sanderson headers.
I do, but these are the hookers.. wanted to see if they'd fit.

I love the exhaust ports on the LS heads, they remind me of a big block :D

A bit of info... header ports for small block Fords line up w/ these ports. So if you took a SBF's headers, cut off the flanges & welded on LSx flanges.. they'd work out.

Hmm.. I'm thinkin if these don't fit (which they problably won't) ..knowing the ports are the same spacing as a SBF's, maybe some Hooker super comps for the Ford ranger V8 conversion would fit better. That's about the same size engine bay.

How about looking into some of LS car headers, tight engine bays there too... I know my buddies firebird doesn't have alot of room to sneak in headers...:shouldershrugg:

The Ranger frame is very narrow and fairly straight (front to back looking down). The first gens at least.

The problem I think I'm going to have is the lower control arm mount by the firewall. It pretty much kills header room. Now what's nice, like what you just pointed out Eric, is the rangers frame IS narrow.. should help keep everything tight to the engine. Mykk.. I can't seem to find any that look close enough to fitting. I've looked at F body & a few others but these silverado headers looked the closest to how the sanderson shorties for the S10 application looked. I couldn't find them at summit so now I'm on a hunt to see what they look like.

All the headers I've found for the ranger V8 conversion are kinda funky around the crossmember.. if I remember correctly, the ranger used struts in the front which would explain a few things.

They have weird coil/ shock buckets like the fullsize. The only ones I know anything about are the I beam trucks. I had given up on Ford long before the switched to a arms.

thats a tight engine wish i had one. i just got a call from a friend of mine that says this guy can get me an ls1 with auto tranny(overdrive) and install with computer for $1500

Yea, those are the conversion & 2.8 mounts on the block.
$1500's pretty decent, specially w/ the trans.

only thing im worried about is an ls1 and tranny, engine mounts...all on top of being installed for $1500. that doesnt seem a little low?

It's being installed, too? Hmm.. yea, does seem a little low. You know how many miles are on that drivetrain? I know a PCM reflash & wiring job is around $500..
