I was just wondering how big of a difference would it make on the track 3.42 VS 3.73? I know 373s would have better tack off but by how much? And would I burn out more with a v8 s10 with the 373s?

IMO the 4.3 doesnt breath high enough in the RPM band stock to need 3.73s for the 1320. 3.42s are better. For a 350, if you had a cam/head and overall combination to go 6K+ RPM, it would be the 3.73s. In any case, it is best to 1st figure out your combination. Tire height and axle ratio you have. Then, go out and figure a 1/4 and 1/8 mile marks on a test road. Go and run it. When you pass by those marks, see what RPM you are turning. If you were to go to a lower gear (higher numerically), then you know youll be turning more RPMs at that marker. Now.....does your engine seem to be flattening out or is already out-of-breath at that point or is it just gettin good? If it done...youll slow down if you get a lower gear. Plus, if your motor is already a low-end torquer, the lower gear might also instigate traction issues not had B4. Now if the motor you just tested in that run and tire height is what you plan on having, and you are going to build a new motor....then you now have some info to help you figure out your combination in where your power band needs 2B. There are calculators online to plug in numbers and figure some of this out too. I like to real-world test stuff in addition to those
