Ok Ive tried just about everything all of us can think of. (except the one that works, I guess)
I must have a new issue besides what I started with. I cant find the correct plug wire combanation on my 1993 chevy S10 blazer (vortec with cpi injection) When I try to find TDC for the #1 cyl the rotor does not point to where #1 should be on the dist. cap. Is there supposed to be only one possible location for the numer one cyl? Whatever my problem is defeats logic somewhat and the written facks completely. Is there any way someone in the blazers histor could have machanically done something backwards?
As I said before: when it was running originally the wires were not in the correct location according to the manual. It was skipping only on acceleration. I believe it was the carbon buld up I found in the cap.
I guess ultimatly what I need to know is:
What other combanation could it possibly have been and still run decent? The #1 cyl on the engine where #6 should be? Or the engine run counterclockwise? Dont forget, whatever it is MUST be different than written information! Lets see who knows everething there is to know about the chevy S10 blazer.

Sorry I didnt read this thread earlier or I would have said something along those lines as I had a problem exactly like that installing a timing belt on my buddy's mazda 626. Only thing that saved me was I marked the cam gears before taking apart. But didnt make since with the factory markings on the gears and alignment of the rotor so I tried the factory marking and had to go back to the markings that I had made. Glad you figured it out though
