2. Connect ALDL terminal A (upper right) with Terminal G (lower left). Door locks will lock and unlock in approximately 2 seconds.

where besides gm would i be able to get a new remote module. I tested every thing and that led me to belive that it is the module that is causing the problem

Sparky, would you have the programming instructions for a '99 Grand Am? My son just bought a GT but it didn't come with the key fobs. We bought a couple but need programming instructions to save a trip to the dealer.

Thanks.

A remote door lock receiver may have up to 4 different transmitters programmed. You may program a transmitter to more than 1 vehicle providing the remote keyless entry systems are similar. When reprogramming 1 transmitter, reprogram any and all other transmitters (maximum of 4 total per receiver) at the same time in order for the other transmitters to work.

IMPORTANT: Leave a window down in the vehicle while reprogramming the remote control door lock receiver system. This procedure will avoid an unintentional lock out if the reprogramming is not performed properly.

Turn off the ignition.
Utilize a Tech 2 to program the remote door lock receiver.
Enter diagnostics (F0).
Enter body (F1); select the year (X) and body style (N).
Select "Remote Function Actuation" (F3).
Select "Special Functions" (F2).
Select "Program Transmitters" (F0).
Select the number of transmitters to program (1-4)
Follow the on-screen instructions; press continue, wait for the locks to cycle, hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 15-30 seconds , the locks will cycle again.
Exit the vehicle. Attempt to lock/unlock the doors to verify the programming.
Perform the following steps if the above procedure does not program the transmitter.
11.1.Reconnect the Tech 2.11.2.Enter service programming (F1).11.3.Press the "REQUEST INFO" key.11.4.Select "Reprogram Existing Module"11.5.Exit the vehicle and remove the Tech 2.11.6.Follow the existing procedure to reflash the body control module.

Well, just damn. Gotta have a Tech-2. Here's the resynchro procedure;

Resynchronization
Resynchronization may be necessary due to the security method used by the remote function actuation system. The transmitter does not send the same signal twice to the receiver. The receiver will not respond to a signal that the receiver has sent previously. This prevents recording and playing back the signal from the transmitter.

Resynchronization does not send the mathematical formula to the receiver. Resynchronization verifies the programmed mathematical formula that is in the transmitter. Resynchronization is successful only if the transmitter is already programmed. Resynchronization may be necessary under the following conditions:

The transmitter is weak.
The transmitter battery was changed.
The vehicle battery is very weak.
The vehicle battery was changed.
The vehicle battery was disconnected.
The transmitter is pressed more than 255 times outside of the range of the receiver.
Complete the following steps in order to resynchronize the transmitter with the receiver:

Press the LOCK and the UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 7 seconds .
The receiver will acknowledge resynchronization in the following manner:

If all of the doors are locked, the receiver will unlock and lock all of the doors except the driver door.
If all of the doors are unlocked, the receiver will lock all of the doors.

Thanks, Sparky. That's sort of a big help. Now I know the procedure, but I now know I also need a Tech-2 programmer. Maybe I should take it to the dealer.... on the other hand, what's a Tech-2 programmer? I didn't find anything on the web during a quick search.

Tech-2 is the scanner/programmer all the GM dealers have.

Sparky, will the programming instructions you posted for the '93 also work on my 2002 Blazer? If not, do you have those? They would be a good thing to have "just in case".

Thanks.
