F/S 87 S-10 Project Or Fix UP!

have a 87 S-10 that I have not done anything with in the last 3 months except let it sit....It was the daily driver up until then. Started it up earlier tonight and it idles real rough but that was the 1st time in 3 months its been started. It's got some small dents/dings but is pretty straight for the most part. Need some work and can be a okay daily driver or a v8 truck.

2.2l I4/ 5 speed NEEDS CLUTCH/THROWOUT BEARING ($75 Kit)
Has new: plugs/wires/starter/distributor cap/rotor/oil change/wipers/clutch fluid.

All work done about 6 years ago unless stated!: Lowered 3/4 w/ Belltech Blocks & Spindles,custom solid tone paint.repalced cab corners and above rear wheels, 3.5" Cowl scoop (fiberglassed to factory hood starting to crack where molded), factory bench seat & interior, driver door panel is no on because window off track and latch not working properly,had new throwout bearing installed 6months ago but is rattling like it needs it again,urethane body kit (sideskirts/rollpan/etc neve rpainted or isntalled but will include),DOES DRIVE but it's an art, 18" American Racing Terons (decent shape, had new tires, 1 needs replaced), 2 factory steel rims w/ tires,exhaust replaced 2 years ago to dump behind cab, brake work done at the same time,roll of fake turf in the bed jsut to be funny (no adhesive, just rolled out),driver window needs REtinted, others are tinted along time a go,gas gauge doesnt work but has jumpe don occasion...probaly a loose ground?, blah blah blah. I will try to remember more.

To drive: With Vehicle off, put into 1st or Reverse. Shift when rpms are up a little (typical when driving clutchless). It usually downshifts okay but when stopping and needing to go back into 1st: shut vehicle off, and repeat. Doesnt like goign into 1st reverse from neutral or other gears.

I have had this truck online ALONG time, and havent touched it since I got rid of my F150. Turned down alot of offers but now need to make the space and pay to repair my sportbike (attempted theft on it caused $3000 damage). Not looking to make much, just get rid of it and help em with some parts.

So where exactly are you located? Will this truck make it to Chicago? I know you're sayin the clutch is toast. What else is possibly wrong? I've got lots of car parts, some other items & tools that aren't listed, although I don't remember what they were right now.. what would you like? I don't have a motorcycle or anything like that, not anymore.

Truck is located in Kansas City,MO. I lived in pontiac, south of Chicago about 2hours? Don't know if I trust it to drive that far, but who knows. I started it up and it idles rough but it hadnt been started in 3 months so I going to say that may be part of it?

It was in KCMO w/ the clutch probs, drove it to Lake Of The Ozarks (200ish miles) to sell it but they guy was jacking with me too much so i said it wasnt for sale and drove it back. Had another seller who wanted to trade truck for cash but when I got to his place (an hour drive) he didnt have all the cash...so I left again. Truck has sat since. :hypnotize

As for stuff I need/could use: I have a 65 Cadillac I have been hunting some 16" 5x5 steel wheels for, two Datsun 521 pickup projects that I could use lots for! (Chevy SBC drivetrain!?/5 lug conversion/etc), Mods for my 04 CBR600RR, etc.... I always love 2 wheeled toys :-)

Any idea about the rearend gears in that truck? Being it is a 5spd id think they are 4.10's, but not sure

also, do you have all the wheel centercaps?

Yeah, I have all the center caps. Have the 2 steelies on the back because on one tire the tread seperated from the sidewall and had to change them both to match for "equal" wear. Don't believe much else is wrong with the truck... misc dents/dings/etc... PM me your emaila ddy adn I will ge tyou more pix/etc.

I've got some datsun stuff (240Z stuff).. brake booster, grille, R200 rear (from 280ZX) & I have finned 4 bolt rims. Have some '65 vette rams horn exhaust manifolds that were originally in my datsun when it had the 327. I have a ton of pontiac stuff & a torque convertor for a later 700R4. I've got a set of black leather corbeau seats that cost me about $1600. I've got more if you click the link for parts, in my sig.

I do love rams horn ex-mani... :-) Got a price for them if you were to sell? My Datsun is actually a 6 lug truck which makes it a pain to find decent wheels but that all will change. Basically hunting major parts so I can get the new frame built.

I have a datsun alt w/ the mount (just a welded steel bracket.. not all that pretty) that works w/ the rams horns, too. One of the manifolds has a crack down the outside one of the bolt holes on the header pipe side (3 bolt flange) easily fixed. I didn't worry about it because it didn't leak. Here's some pix. TC is stock & came from a V8. I was told it's the later 700R4 TC so it should be 30 spline. I've got almost everything to build a 383 stroker & if the price is right I may be willing to drive it out to you. Please check out my parts link.. there's an ass-load of parts.

What the **** am I gonna do with another s series. That will be 3 in my driveway. Once my girl moves into her place, and my current roommates move out I will have my 2 car garage back, but untill then....i get more driveway ornaments. That makes 7 vehicles, and 1 bike in my driveway between my girl, my roommates and I...and I share a driveway with my neighbors.

Pfftt! You should see the driveway here. My S10, my TA, Pops old 86 Sierra, my grandmas 98 G.Prix (had to keep her from driving due to her bad health and hard head), moms 86 Regal (she passed away), my grandfathers old 56 Fairlane, and a Cobia boat. Not to mention the guest vehicles. Used to have a 429TJ 71 T-Bird too.

ok, so I just got back from picking up the truck, and for the mostpart, im satisfied with it Nothing I really am going to worry about, i really wanted the wheels, spindles, rear end and frame

I got in it..no shifting problems at all, taken it for a few drives with no problems at all and I got in and the gas gauge suddenly worked, booh yeah.

So anyway, im back, and might have pics up tomorrow of it and my 87 side by side

Tommy- I didnt have a clue that NONE? of the lghts in back worked? It had an extra led bulb in glovebox for if one went out but that was new to me!?

yeah, found that light, no biggie, may put them in the stock taillights on the 87 And no that frame is not it, but it may be tomorrow. Realized there was too much rust under it to sell it outright, so ive decided to part it out keeping the good parts to myself. Im actualyl sitting here polishing the rear wheels right now. Looking at some 245 45 18 Bridgestone Potenza Re960AS's for all 4 corners. Tomorrow weather permitting my roommate and I are gonna try and get the truck down to a cab on the frame, but well see.
