heard rumors that soon to be a 5.3l engine option...i would consider one if it had a v8 but only the 5.3 not the 4.8...anyone else heard anything?

Seen lots of S10 with V8's... just not from the factory that way.
Since the Trailblazer SS is so popular, it really is surprising that they haven't done an Colorado SS with an LS2.

Yeah..thats what I meant...a factory V8 S-series. I know they had a few show-models. I like the TrailBlazer alot....just not the insane price tag. As far as the Colorado, I would want one, but the truck is just made so cheaply. The doors have no structure, the interior as a whole is 3rd world luxury at best and styling isnt there. The fromt isnt so bad, just the gaudy fenders to accomodate an otherwise plain and flat side.

Reading that article makes me want a V8 in my Blazer all the more.
Not that it would be much of an upgrade, but I wonder if anyone has every put the I5 into an S10, or for more of an upgrade the I6. And I know most people don't think much of the I5, so someone is probably going to laugh at me for that one.

07-31-07, 11:34 AM
i would definitely look at one...i recently looked at an 07 colorado at a local dealer...looked to have some decent interior improvements...only thing is i think the s-series has more interior room....the extended cab felt really small to me.....

Ill look at a newer 2007 one day. But a friend has an 2005 and I wasnt impressed. Gagues suck...you get 4, panels are flimsy and remind me of an old nissan, seats were avg but material was base-truckish on his upgrade LS model and a few other odds I didnt care for. The I5 is a pig too...oink oink

I would agree with you mike about the I5 being a pig, I test drove one and wasnt impressed.
My 4.3 felt like it had more balls than the I5 and that motor is supposed to have more hp than the 4.3.......
Odd i thought

i hear the i5 is better onj the top...off the line 4.3 hands down but over like 75 the i5 can pull on a 4.3

GM actually did a Colorado SS concept not too long ago.. it had an LS2 6.0L in it and was said to be in production soon after.. that was a year or two ago..

there was also rumor of a "Cruz" model coming out as well. With a 6.2L v8 and 420HP , 420lb-ft... Brembo brakes and 20" wheels.

I haven't sat in or driven an EC or even a RC... but I can tell you that the CC colorado's have so much room in them that it is insane. I was just on a road trip to Canada for a truck meet where I stopped maybe twice (from oregon) because it was so comfortable and roomy.
I have an 05 Xtreme.. I can tell u that the Xtreme gauges are a little better than the stockers.. however, you dont get much (speedo,Tach, gas, temp, batt, etc...) but what else do u really need? The panels do look cheap, but they are very easy to remove and "customize" if u so choose. They seats are IMO way better than my blazer when I had it. They are more comfortable and giving.
It all depends on the options you get. If you get a stock LS truck.. yeah things arent going to be as nice. But if you opt for the Xtreme or high end ZQ8 packages.. you will see a difference. You get what you pay for.
I would agree with you mike about the I5 being a pig, I test drove one and wasnt impressed.

Funny thing is, these trucks seem slow.. but I think its a frame of mind. When i first got my truck all I thought was "man I have an I-5 and this thing is F-ing slow"... now.. im beginning to change my thoughts. Yes I know, its not "FAST" like a race car.. but its a peppy little truck.
I can smoke s-10's, dakotas, etc all day.
Not to mention the mods are infinite with these trucks. Pre-Cat deletion, cat back exhausts, PCM tunes, intakes, etc, etc.
If you guys want to know a little more about them.. pm me.. ill be happy to show u a site that has tons of info on them (im not sure if im allowed to post the link here or not..)

I saw the Maroon SS concept come here a couple years ago when the HotRod PowerTour stopped for a show. It was cool except for the interior choice. I liked the exhaust, wheels tonneau with spoiler and such. The Cruz is a dream, so no one get their hopes up. As far as the gagues, the X does have a cool set. They shouldve did that on the S-series too. But I do need an oil pressure. Probably one of the most important gagues you can have besides fuel. the interior is mostly the design. Flat around the radio and passenger dash and the Nissan-Like door panels/power switch plate. Im real picky about styling and form. Seats are more bucket-like than my buckets and console. But even if I had one of those, I would still want to get another type in there like a Camaro or WRX seat. Ive seen a leather one, but it does nothing for me. As far as the I5 vs 4.3, Im going to call BS on the racing. My friend has your truck exactly (except a ZQ8)with a intake(AEM) and exhaust (IDK). Its still a pig and he agrees. I can easily beat him by a bunch....not real fair since mine is a regular cab stepside and his is a crew like yours. That was with intake (K&N) and 1st exhaust I had (turbo muffler and tailpipe). But from experience by both of us, we agree that it still wouldve been the same outcome just closer is his was a reg cab. I agree thet there is untapped performance like most all motors have. But also am partial on thinking that the 4.3 has far more potential than a I5. Even today there are very few prople who have attempted to push the limits of the shorty small block. As far as beating a Dakota, I will give you that. Other than a modded 5.9RT, Ive never driven one that particularly impressed me. They are heavy cows. And the thought of a ext cab 4-banger they made just makes me cringe. Even the 4.7 felt stronger than the older 5.2s. Your truck looks good and I hope you enjoy it. I also hope my opinions dont offend you or anyone else. Just like a**holes ya know...everyones got one =) hehehe

nope doesnt offend me one bit. the only reason I said that the I-5(my truck) can beat the 4.3 (a buddy's truck) was because we have raced plenty of times together and I always get him by half/full car length. He has an exhaust, headers, etc. and I have exhaust, intake, tune (which changed shift points and removed the governor.. thats it).
As for the interior you are right.. I wish there was a little more thought put into them.. but like i stated, easily customizable.
I love this truck and prolly will have it for some time.. but i sure do miss my blazer... haha:(

I was looking at a fully loaded 07' Xtreme Ext. Cab with the cream kasmire leather interior and it looked pretty nice the newer I5 is decent but I'm going to wait till mid 09' to get one hopefully with the 5.3L in it =]

i don't see why not the h3 is getting a 5.3....why not the colorado? prolly sell alot more

agreed. I am hoping they throw it in there also... It would def. sell alot more and apeal to a bigger market. However, GM always says one thing and changes their mind. We will just have to wait and see I guess.

very true. Any kind of an upgrade would be good.. but the 5.3 would make more sense since the Hummer is getting it. Even though it wouldn't hinder the production of the colorado getting the 5.3.. it would take money away from GM at the beginning....

That article is from June 7th and it references the same one that was in this thread before from June 6th. It really seems like they're just reiterating the information from pickuptruck.com. Beyond that, if you go to chevy.com and try to "build" an '08, they don't give you a 5.3L option. Not saying it's a definite thing, but it doesn't look good.

LOL, I don't blame ya. But as far as a V8 colorado, it really don't matter to me in the end b/c I want to have an SUV. I know people say the colorados are not anything like the dimes, but I think there is an ever greater difference between the blazers and trailblazers. I am by no means looking to get rid of mine, but if I were, I'd be at a loss as to what to replace it with b/c I really like the style/functionality of what I have.

The Hummer H3 and the Colorado's are getting the 5.3 option. Gm leaked it at a Colorado show that was held at the Shreveport LA plant where they make Colorado’s. They will probley be releasing them between now and mid 08.

Not sure what you mean by "raise up" but the Rado is one of the easiest trucks I have worked on. I can have my front end torn apart(grille off.. lights off.. in a matter of... 30-45 seconds.. everything else is in plain sight.
as for the body lines and interior.. I think there is MUCH more room in the colorado then the dime.. the body line are debatable.. each truck has their flaws.. but each truck has their advantages.
