rear end exchange question

is there anything to change to put a ZR2 rear end in a 2001 s10 manual?

what gearing does the ZR2's have in them?

zr2's are usually 3.73 gov locks

The ZR2 rear is either 6" or 9" wider the a 2wd

X2..the ZRs diff is wider and will look utterlly stupid on your 2wd Xtreme. The diff is a 8.5 on a ZR2 and most non-ZR2s are a 7.5/7.625. But since you have a 4.3/5sp like mine, you might have a 8.5 center.....some did, some didnt. 1st figure that B4 you go buying parts that are not going to work =)

yeah i have non zr2 4x4 and i have 7.625 ring gear..would like an 8.5 gov lock with discs..lol

yep ss's truck has an 8.5. if you want a different gear ratio just buy some different gears and get them put in.

SS's didnt nessicarily have them. I believe they were only behind 4.3 trucks with a manual trans.

Come to think of it, the SS package had the automatic as standard equipment. Auto with 3.42s gears, SS badges, Zq8 suspension & I forget what else.
