My fuel pump went tits up and im asking if you have any input on changing it? I have the back end jacked up and the spare removed, I'm about to drain the fuel through the main filler pipe. Also I plan to get a pump through AutoZone because of the price and warrenty, any input will help. Thanks

it's pretty easy, just time consuming. that sucks that it went out

Nope, sounds like you got it covered the only thing I was to add was to make sure the filler line was removed first. Seen tooooo many times people remove everything but that, then try to drop it whens its now heavy and there kinda stuckthere!!

OK thanks. One more question do I cut the filler line rubber hose and replace it or just try like hell to slide it out of the way?

If its not to old it usually can be unclamped and slide down. It its getting brittle, replce it and cut the prick off!!

bes bet is to just replace the lines as they arent that expensive, thats what I did anyways when mine took a dive...better safe then sorry...of course I'm a new part junky anyways!

I personally would remove the bed.It makes it a whole lot easier and quiker in my opinion.Mine went out here while back and I just took the bed off and was done in a little over a hour. You will need a extra set of hands to lift the bed off and back on.

I did get the pump out without taking the bed off(sorry Max I had to put that in there), easier than I thought it would be. Why can't chevy make a drain for the fuel tank, that was the hardest part of the job. Wal-Mart has a $3 fuel sump that worked slow but it did the trick. Thanks everyone for the input.
By the way does anyone have a preferance on the brand of fuel pump? I've seen AC Delco and Master. Master has a lifetime warenty and AC Delco is one year.

Was the bed hard to get off lol.Ya can't go wrong with AC-Delco.I worked at Advanceauto and Autozone.Their fuel pumps never really had any problems or came back for warranty replacement.I have heard they don't flow as well but are good enough for stock injectors and factory pressure.I really like Walbro fuel pumps. They ain't cheap but they work REAL well.
