TBI Plenum = Commonly referred to as the 'Caddy Hat'. It is a popular part to make your own TBI custom air intake. These are made of high impact plastic with metal reinforcement. They come with tha OEM oval rubber boot, offset stud to fit GM ThrottleBodyInjection units and Tridon clamps. They are in good shape and I have a few availible. There are some TBI owners who have done this mod. You will need to follow past instruction or devise your own custom intake. TBIs were not as fortunate to have gotten the aftermarket attention and there are few CAI (cold air intakes) kits availible. Starting with this, you could get a generic tube and conical filter and have a custom and functional CAI for way cheaper than the pre-made ones. PM me for pics. SOLD

For the older S-10's? It'd be nice to have something for the '96 and newer dimes.

Yeah, this is for a TBI unit with the screw in stud. The hole on the TBI is kinda offset and the hole inthe 'hat' is centered. Therefore the stud is offset. Eric (87wildside) bought one I had for the 1st gen TBI he has. Hes going to design a CAI kit using it. The later CPI like I have has the clip in the front and the screw stud on the back. My K&N kit uses an adapter ring, a short silicone boot and 2 worm clamps to hold the 'hat' down. It would be nice to develop a CPI unit. Ive never seen any easily doable 'hats' on anything else. The Astro, CK hats are like ours...CPI ones

FYI, PepBoys carries Spectre's DIY CAI parts. Tubes, elbows, filters and boots. Or get a short ram intake. I think its 3.5 or 4 inch when you get the TBI hat opening rounded. Its kinda oval now.

Yea.. its 3.5" and i home depot specialed it for now... schedule 40 3" PVC works like a charm ;) (painted black of course)
Found a filter (cloth) at murray's for $26 - to hell with k&n at nearly $60 for one.

question - how do i adapt my PCV valve input into the input slot on the caddy plenum? DIdnt really have much time to mess with it this morning (and my bat was dead... will have to tech that out as to why later tonight but.. i digress) The PCV valve hose that goes into the TB is a diff diamater and length for the plenum. Do i just replace it with a different diamater and length hose? Thoughts? Idea's? SUggestions? I really wanna get this baby rippin and hear how it sounds/runs so input will be appreciated.

Another question - whats the best way to support the tubing if i'm not going into a airbox right away?

Thanks again guys!

Hmmm. On the CPI intakes like my 2003, the PCV is in one valve cover and has a tube going to a part off the intake. It gets its vaccum there. The other valve cover has a tube running from there to the port on the intake plenum (TBI Hat). PCV system works all the same. A filtered tube off one valve cover and a PCV valve opn the other. The filtered tube will either use the air filter (if downstream like a MAF vehicle tube intake) or it will have its own small filter inside the air cleaner (like carbs have inside the round air cleaner. Your v.cover that doesnt have the PCV valve in it just needs a tube to run from that hole to the hole on the Intake hat port. Your air filter serves as its filter. Then your PCV valve will get its manifold vaccum as it does stock.

On further inspection... the TB engine the right side valve cover port is not the PCV valve (like it was on my old 350 in the K5 blazer). thats on the left valve cover and that feeds directly into the front of the throttle body assembly. The right side is aparently just a crank case vent of some sort *shrug*....

Anyway.. the fix around it...

Go to the 'Help' Section of your local auto parts store and get a Help PCV Elbow (rubber) for a chrysler (part#47028) and about 2" of 3/4" heater hose. I trimmed the output tube from the valve cover to length to fit... attached the elbow and then used the 3/4" Hose as a coupler between the plenum PCV input nipple and the elbo. Will post pictures in a few days when i get some - was just too late last night to get a good pic.

On a happy note... HOLY SH%T does my truck run smoother... i cant beleive it... second gear now has NO hesitation if i use it to roll off from a stop and i feel a very noticable difference in drivability.

W00t w00t, thanks Mitz

Hmm. That setup is slightly diferent. But I gotcha. Good deal on gathering parts to make it work. Ive had 3 do that a few times myself. My TA has a 305 '85 C1500 PCV, a rubber hose with an adapter to a slightly smaller red silicone hose (got it from a ricer I used to work with..thought it may come in handy one day and it did). On a side note, the right-angle elbow from a 98-up 4.3 might work too. I used my old hard hose, cut a little and made a standoff and angle for a open breather filter mod/ I still run the stock PCV on the drivers side tho. Glad to hear its working great and a well worth it mod! Youre Welcome. Dont 4-get those pics =)
