F.T.W. means **** The World. Its often used by the lower class of youth. Its used by people pist off about society, pist about the way things are today. Angry about whatever it may be. F.T.W. is simply stating how a person may feel about the world.
OK...no drop kit in yet....waiting to get my floor welded.....and yes MY AVS kit for the doors is installed on one side anyways...And yes the electronics will open both doors once it is installed...:) And yes my poppers push the door open excellent....Now.....it finish the tweeter pods...lol
For those who would like to see what poppers and such I used..Here is a little info
I exclusivly use parts from AVS in California...Why ....cause of the easy of use and excellent customer service.....
Here are a few pics to explain
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/outside/IM001356.jpg
look at that....one piece frame that bolts right onto the factory latch, no drilling required
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/outside/IM001357.jpg
The acuatator will wire to any alarm system on the planet, and due to the design, you will never lock your doors again, but if you shave the handles...is the lock that important..LOL...This design also needs no trimming or special fitment to go back into the door..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/outside/IM001352.jpg
Fits right behind the window track....:)
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/outside/IM001353.jpg
And I can still use my factory handle for the inside...:)
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/outside/IM001355.jpg
And as a bonus I got my poppers for free...:) and AVS gives you a $20 gift card for every 100.00 you spend...Customer appreciation. Gotta love that...:)

Nice parts. Looks like Harada actuators. Is that to unlock it or does that pull the handle rod and use its spring to return it?
Nice parts. Looks like Harada actuators. Is that to unlock it or does that pull the handle rod and use its spring to return it?
The cable you see attaches to the handle bar on the latch mech...And yes the spring resets the latch.....also..when you pull the lock bar down...into the unlocked postion, it lines up with one of the holes in the frame, a nut and bolt goes though this to make it impossible to lock the door...so you will never lock your keys inside again...:)
But if you choose to keep your keyhole and hardware, you could cut off this tab and not damage the unit so it will still open the door...
It is by far the nicest and easiest to install I have ever seen..
I have only installed one side...when I do the other side I will post up a how to...It is so easy it is not funny...

The Tweed Came from:http://www.diyupholsterysupply.com/
They rock..quick shipping to Canada (3 days)
and they take Paypal..:) plus that site has anything you would need to do upholstery, from hog nose pliers to faux Croc and other skins. I will be shopping there again..:)
The native print came from a small shop on Ebay. I find alot of good stuff on there...LOL

I've actually done some electric work in Stillwater for Stillwater Designs. I used to have 2 12" Kickers back in the day.
Well the Bovine is at it again...LOL
Since my welder is AWOL...I decided to build my sub box...
Now understand..in Cowtopia building anything is kinda like Robin Williams hiring the 3 Stooges to build him a house, using plans drawn up by Mike Holmes on acid..LOL
It all looks good, just do not mind the mess..LOL
I used BassBox Pro Software to help with box design it rocks.. If you are serious about speaker design I would reccomend this software hands down over all the others.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/art-bbxp2.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/pro-montage.jpg
I am using 4 - 8 inch subs..each sub needs a minumin of 0.4 cu ft of airspace. based on a sealed enclousure design. So 4 would need 1.6 cu ft of air. After plugging in those numbers and subwoofer design specs, the software gave me a basic size dimension to work with..
So off to the local Home Depot we go...yippeeemoo I love shopping..LOL
I purchased 2 half sheets one 1/2 inch and one 3/4 inch..
So now comes the fun part...making the mess...LOL
My final design turned out to be 48 wide, 20 high, 7 inches bottom width, 6 inches top width. These are external dimensions..
First we draw out the design on the MDF...Twice I might add..LOL
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00341.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00342.jpg
Now the 3 stooges part..LOL I cut out all my pieces in the living room of my house...it only took me 5 hours to vacum up all the dust...LOL Lesson Learned..LOL
Then the Cowtopian Army was called out to help hold back some rowdy cardboard templates.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00340.jpg
After the dust settled...Pardon the Pun..LOL we started to glue the pieces together..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00355.jpg
We used PL premium construction adhesive...Cause it Rocks..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/large.jpg
After 24 hours for the glue to set and cure, We cut out the front slab. And then started to lay out the audio goodies.
And yes I am going to use inch and a half coarse thread screws as well.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00356.jpg
I had no clamps to use for this part..so the cowtopian brain kicked in..

In my neck of the woods it's called "Southern Engineering".
SCredneck
03-25-08, 12:18 AM
We call it "Redneck Ingenuity":D
OK, Update time..!!!
The bovine has been busy with my personal and truck pursuits..
Well I had to cover the subbox with something, so the Tweed was again called into duty.. Glad I bought 10 yards..LOL
Ok the tools used on this project are:
2 different types of glue..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00396.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00405.jpg
Also various other stuff, sharp scissors, a couple one sided razor blades, and my personal fav...a 6 inch drywall spreader.
Now covering the front is easy, cut to size and lay on the spray glue, to both pieces. Then I used the 6 inch to help flatten this surface. make sure your spreader is clean, we do not want to ruin a bunch of Tweed now eh..
OK once you got this done you got material over the edge, you need to trim this to 0.75 of a inch to give you enough to glue to, less and it might fray.
Ok now we break out the contact cement, I love this stufff for it's great holding power over time..it does not break down too easy.
First you have to think about which way you are going to wrap, then spread the glue on 1 inch of the edge to be glued and on the material that is hanging over..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00416.jpg
Once the glue has setup, or kinda dried. using a clean hand, fold the edge over to make it stick. when you are done that whole edge it should look like this...
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00403.jpg
but now you say I got to meet at the corners.....so now you have to make a relief cut in this material, kinda like this..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00407.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00408.jpg
we make these cuts so that the material does not end up doubled over, and that way it stays flat so when the top goes on to will be flat and smooth not with bulged corners...
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00410.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00411.jpg
OK so we cut out the holes and we got the front covered...Now on to the sides. In order for the edge to be clean and smooth we had to first fold us a nice clean edge.
So more contact cement was used for this, and we had to call out the Cowtopian army to help.
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00392.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00391.jpg
Continued on next page...
OK now we should have something like this..If not back to the drawing board..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00395.jpg
now lay a decent 1 inch bead along the front side edge of the box and to the newly folded seam you just created,
when set up place this folded edge on the glue and press down making sure you are flush with the front edge and not hanging over..
Then you need something to help flatten the edge..I used a clamp..a really long clamp...lol
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00401.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00399.jpg
Let this dry a least 1 hour before you remove the clamp..
Now we got a piece of material on the side of the box like so..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00406.jpg
make sure you use that spreader to make sure the panels are all stuck down, it helps to spread the spray glue as well so it is a great idea...
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00418.jpg
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00415.jpg
See how flat it looks..
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00412.jpg
And remember to make your relief cuts on the corners. Well I got the front and both sides done.
But what to do with the top. I know how about some relief work..something to make it stand out...hmmm gooder idea.!!!
But what to use....what to use.....Oh wait I got a idea...
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u56/tuteuk/truck/audio/DSC00420.jpg
But that is for the next installment.
And remember folks, If a cow can do this...so can you...:cowsleep:

Sweet! You have more patience than I do.
This is lookin sick, How long did it take u to shave the door handles?
shaving the doors, took 2 days cause my welder took that long to come do the hard part..(welding), but with a palm sander and the right grit of paper about 4 hours, cause stuff has to dry between coats and such.
But as long as the door panels do not warp (Usually improper welding technique) you could do Both doors with lots o" beers in about a weekend.
Hope this helps..:)

That is going to look sweet!
YIpppeeeemoooooo!!!
It's done.....kinda, I still got the electronics to install but it's wired and ready to go..
I know it looks messy, but I will be cleaning it before I go any farther..:)
And yes the subs are not centered, due to the fact that water lives on the floor and the speakers do not need to get wet..:)

The 3/4 MDF was 19.99 a half sheet
The 1/2 MDF was 15.99 a half sheet
Prices may vary in your area but after 2 different types of screws, 3 types of glue...
It was about $75.00 to just make the box...
The tweed I listed somewhere in this thread...:cowsleep:
Well it kinda looks like this, But this is not the final look it may change the wires look messy to me..
So for now this is it almost finished...:)
