Now you have to cut the doors......I think the measure twice cut once is out......more like measure 15x's and cut once. cant wait to see it all welded in and doors on

Measure? Eye ball it!

J/K....haha. The doors should be easy. Right now I think the filler pieces will be the hard part.

After I read:

Now you have to cut the doors......

I just had a feeling the reply was going to read something like this:

OH, CRAP!!! I forgot about having to cut the doors to match the height of the cab!!!!! AHHH!!!

LOL, But then it wasn't, so I had to make it up and share it... I'm tired.

Got some more done today.

This is the door cut and in

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/87wildside/000_0108.jpg

I had to make a relief cut to allow the B pillar to be spread open. It ame to a point and that would just cause blow throughs. I cut this huge hole in the back of my cab.

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/87wildside/000_0110.jpg

Now I had to fill it

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/87wildside/000_0113.jpg

87wildside
09-13-07, 07:51 PM
Almost done. This is not going to need hardly any filler!

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/87wildside/000_0114.jpg

A shot down the A pillar to show how well it lines up

I do have one issue I have to deal with and that is this horrible gap. Just have to cut some tack welds at the front of the roof, pull it forward and re trim the roof skin. It sounds more involved then it is.

I thought about adding to the door but I wouldn't like how the weather stripe would meet. I'll just fix it the right way while I still can.

Pretty smooth. Its almost so subtle that some might not even notice its chopped at 1st glance. Like the radiused door edges. I like it

I still have to redo the roof side of the radius  But it shouldn't be long until I'm slinging the lead. That's the next thing I have to learn.

haha, do you want me to put a gas door in for you?

If you ever see my truck up close, you'll see it needs a TON more than just a gas fill door... I should probably just get a whole new cab at this point.

87wildside
09-17-07, 09:16 AM
What's bad, the floor pan, cab corners and rockers?

Tink
09-24-07, 07:40 PM
All of the above, along with the A-pillars, the cab roof (poorly installed visor), the bottom rear of the cab and the lower firewall.

87wildside
09-25-07, 03:27 AM
I think you might want to go ahead and get a cab, way cheaper then the replacement panels. I guess the a pillars are bad from the visor leaking and if that's the case then your whole door jamb on the front may be bad.

Got some more done to the chop. Now all thats left is making some fillers and all the finish work.

Bet you cant wait to get a finished look =)The body line has been shave for about 5 years and the bumper is my old one from about the same time. I have a Toyota bumper with the billet insert. I don't need a front tag so that bumper is pointless now. Defiantly can't wait to have it finished or at least in one color primer.

hack job :)
haha, thanks Tom.

It felt good to get back over there. It had been about a month since the last time and it was driving me nuts. I have to get over there more often.

I probably missed this somewhere, but is this the body that's getting that sweet boxed frame? How did you eliminate the upper body line? was it welded in or mud,? That looks really cool. Nice work. Projects this involved are inspirational.

Projects this involved are inspirational. This is the truck that frame is going under. Yes the upper body line is all welded and it took forever to do all the tacks.

It's funny, before I found the Planet the truck was buried in my friends garage. Didn't even think about working on it.

That looks great. As others have said, those subtle touches will make that thing so special!
