Hey guys,

Just after getting my truck I had the stock rims with the winter tires put on. The tech who did the swap pulled me aside and pointed out that the 18 inch Boyd's were rubbing in the frame in the back and on the splashguard and frame on the front. He suggested wheel spacers with adapters but said I should probably be the one to look it up since he wasn't experienced in that area and didn't want to be blamed if anything went wrong. He mentioned a place called Capital Tires but I havn't had any luck finding any info on the place.

Any idea's or sources would be helpfull, I have until spring to figure this out.

FYI:18" Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's.
-18x8 in the front and 18x10 in the back,
wrapped in 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 Nitto 555 Extreme tires

Note: the rubb marks don't show in the pic. Pic was from previous owner, I'm guessing before it had alot of road time. Truck still looks great but has a few scratches.

I have 1.5 inch adapters on my truck. They are specifically used to accomodate 4x4 offset rims on my 2wd truck. If you torque them properly and check them regularly you will not have any problems. If you just get a spacer (not an adapter) then you can run into problems. Often they have an overly large center bore and that prevents them from sitting on the hub centered. This could cause am imbalance and a shaking. It won't mess up the alignment if you use the same size spacers on all wheels. I've been running mine for almost 3 years now, although the last 10 - 12 months have been driven very seldomly.

I've been running mine for almost 3 years now, although the last 10 - 12 months have been driven very seldomly.

There lies the problem. Mine is a daily driver in which I drive a lot and even though the rubbing isn't extremely bad and there deosn't seem to be wear on the inside wall of the tire, it still concerns me.

and Thanks Blazin, I'd appreciate any input.

3 years - 12 months approx. = 2 years

It was my daily driver for 2 years with those adapters with zero problems. I was anal about not using air tools on them and always torqued them to 100ft/lbs religously. But they are still on today standing up to the abuse of some violent side/side action and dragging and burnouts. Like I said, I have 1.5in ADAPTERs though. Sounds like you would need SPACERS for the small amount you need to account for and I recommend against them unless you find ones with the center bore specifically for your application, front and rear.

How about something like this.Of course made for your exact backspacing and bolt pattern.Thay are billet and I would probably trust something like this instead of death trap waiting regular spacers.http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=331&stc=1

Thanks,

It looks promising, but I don't think I'd trust myself with the measurements... so I might have to take it to a tire place or my local body shop that knows me..... just to be on the safe side.
