Up for grabs is an Overhead Console. It is from a 2nd Gen S-series, Shorty Style for Sunroof trucks. Has 2 Map Lights, Display with Compass and Temperature, Homelink (3-button with red indicator), 3-position Switch for sunroof control but could be used for anything you can come up with, Base Plate that mounts above headliner that console attaches to and has the compass sensor on it, and Temperature Sensor to go under the hood. Has pigtails for all the plugs. No damage at all. Cosmetically it is in excellent shape. Everything test in woring order. I would give it a overall 8 of 10 because I am picky myself. Pictures are availible upon request....just ask me:D $45.00 + Shipping

PM me if you ever get hold of the harness for this from the unit to the connector behind the dash w/ a pigtail left on. I grabbed one but it ended up being for the long console.

Well, I got 2 with it. PayPal accepted =) Jason, IDK exactly what yoy arer talking about. The wires/plugs I get with these just gets bundled in other wiring and taped all together. It does shoot down the Lt A-Pillar but gutting it all is required as far as I can see.

Yea, I'm talkin about the wiring that goes down the pillar. Even if only the connectors could be found w/ pigtails, & is compatible w/ the small console, I'd be thrilled.

Well, connector '1' is not in my hands.. although one of the connector from the floor shifter fit it (I just need to pull one of the connections out & move it) & connector '2' I may have on the harness I grabbed from the bravada/jimmy w/ the big overhead console like you have in your truck. I'm sure the '2' connector would be the same as it goes into the display. I think I'm havin serious brain fart problems, problably because I hate doin electrical work (yea, it's funny to me, too.. seein as I was a low volt guy for over 4 yrs).

Connector 1 is power ground and door trigger harness. It is the same plug for the 98-up fogs and floor shift. Pins are differnet though. Im sure I can score one for you though. The Connector 2 is going to be a few possibilities. Most were either a 5 or a 7 pin configuration. Hard to tell by that pic. But you can count them. Most pins are used on that. Connector 1 should be Yellow, Orange, Black, White and I think Gray. I can decode them tomorrow. Its friggin 2:30 AM and Im tired now. ( DELLs are good for porn!!! hehehehe J/K ) Well discuss which of the Con. 2 you have and its colors...and where they go to.

#2 has a 9 pin connector & the 9 pin from the harness I pulled fits. The 2nd connetor on the harness that would go to #1 only has 4 colors (because it uses a different connector).. it's missing the grey wire.. but I could splice into the grey wire being used for the #2 connector, right? That's the way most of the wires look from the OEM. I went out & mounted the console this afternoon. JB welded some bolts to the roof for the mounting tray..

What are the colors..gimme the breakdown for EACH harness. Plus the year they were from

Hammer Head

I don't remember what year they came from exactly but I remember the dash was a pre-98 dash. So... 94-97. Ok, lookin at the #2 connector (pin side, left to right)
1 purple,
2 orange,
3 (empty),
4 brown,
5 grey,
6 lt. green w/ black stripe,
7 dk. green,
8 black w/ white stripe,
9 yellow.

The connector that should go to #1 is..
yellow, orange, white, black (solid, no stripe)

I have 2 other connectors on this harness for lights in the sun visors & they have.. orange, black

At the main connector (from behind the dash) the harness has 10 wires. Lookin at the pin side they are..
(top, left to right)
1 purple
2 brown
3 grey
4 lt. green w/ black stripe
5 black w/ white stripe

(bottom, left to right)
6 white
7 yellow
8 black (solid, no stripe)
9 orange
10 dk. green w/ white stripe

Keep in mind my console is '98-up. I think it's from an 01-02, but I honestly don't remember.

Now Im confused because you told me you cant remember which console year its from and its pre-98. Then you say yours is a post-98????:hypnotize
But looking at the arrangement its seems 2B a pre-98 display.
Wires on post-98 are different arrangement but GM kept the result the same. I amy not have them all but here it goes.
Yellow = Serial Data Class 2
Blk-Wht = Ground
D.Green = 12V Ignition/ Retained Accesory Power specifically
L.Gr-Blk = Air Temp Sensor
Grey = Illumination
Brown
Orange = 12V Constant
Purple
What info I am missing is for the Brown and Purple. But, later years like 98-up used a LED Dimmer instead of a regular one. Brown is common GM dimmer wire and Purple-White is LED Dimmer. Since the pre 98s had no LED Dimmer, go with the Brown as Dimmer. The VSS is the last link in making this work. Purple is most likely this. On a post 98 VSS is DGreen-White.
Ground, RAP (accesory),2V constant , dimmer and illumination I would get at the radio.
VSS and Data at the BCM
BCM plugs are color coded and the BCM is to the right of the accelerator pedal. Box with plugs facing the footwell.
Serial Data is a Yellow wire pin A1 in the Blue Plug. A row is on top (clip side) and looking at it pin side facing you A1 is top left.
VSS is under it Dk.Green-White in pin B1 of the same Blue Plug.
For additional reference, the LED Dimmer (only used on 98-up overheads) is in the Blue Plug pin A12. (opposite end top row)
The Air Temp Sensor usually has a Green and a Black wires. Black goes to ground and the Green goes to the afformentioned overhead console plug LtGreen-Blk.
ATS clips behind the center of the grille.
Anything else?
Is this what you need. Lemme know, I can get more info Im sure

I was going off the harness I had, I didn't pin out for the console unit. You say they're the same, though (connector 2)? What about the wires already on the pillar? I saw yellow, black, orange, white all go back to the cab light & there's a few that go to the lights on the rear view mirror. I can hit everything here I can't find at the BCM, right? Do you have a pic of the BCM pin outs? Could you also snag a pic of you're #2 connector so I can see the pin out there, too? I'd just like to have a few visual references.

No pic of the BCM. Pull the under dash black plasctic starting under the drivers side and then pull back the center section. Near the feet heater vents is the BCM. 3 big plugs facing the footwell on the drivers side. I can get a pic tomorrow sometime of the BCM is needed. What else did you need? My current overheads are lower # pin units. They only have temp/compass. The one in my truck is a temp/compass/trip. Its kindof a PITA to pull and pic it. But if its detremental I will.

Ok, here's an update on my end of what I found.. I found a wiring schematic of the DIDC (driver's information display center), but it's not for Bravads.. my wiring is from a 95-97 bravada & my overhead is from a '98+ blazer. Like you said GM didn't change the pin-out, correct?

Yellow = +12v in Acc or Run (fuse box or radio).
Brown = +12v when parking lamps are switched on (behind light switch)

Dk. Green = VSS (BCM)

Black w/ white stripe = ground (dome light)

Lt. Green w/ black stripe = air temp sensor (front of radiator support) watch which sensor you use w/ the console you have. earlier sensors don't play nicely w/ '98+ consoles & visa-versa. It causes the display to read 30*F higher.

Grey = Dimmer voltage from instrument lamps (behind light switch)

Again on later models the orange, white, & black wires should already be run back to the CHMSL so you can tie in to those for the interior lights.

Mikz86TA

They arent run to the CHMSL. Thats the 3rd brake light. The lighting wires can be mosylt tapped at the dome light at the cab roof back. There youll find a 12V constant (orange) and a Ground trigger when the door is opened (white). Ill have to look up the Yellow you have listed in thats set (orange/yellow/white/black). The black should go directly to a chassis Ground. That gives your lamps a ground when the doors are closed (map lights) The white is the grounding signal when the door is open. On your truck (98-up) this wire goes to the BCM NOT the door trigger itself. On these years the BCM is in the middle because it has the DomeLight Override, Domelight Delay and Rundown Protection built into it as a timer and such. The door triggers connect to the BCM and the BCM sends the grounded signal to the Dome Light. Thats that. Lemme figure out your other stuff later when I have a fresh mind.

You're right. I just fixed that uh-oh about the CHMSL... I went out & looked at what I've got running up my pillar (2 orange, 1 blue, & 1 black). I'm not quite sure what runs over to the map lights now.. I'm sure at least one of those orange +12v constant.

A-pillar OR B-pillar? The Dome and 3rd Brake wires are in the B-pillar. Should be Blue, Black (3rd Lt) and White, Orange (Dome). This is from a fried current memory. Sorry if I am wrong. But do this. Pop off your dome lamp cover, unscrew the 2 7mm nuts and drop off the housing/reflector. You should see the wires/colors going to the dome lamp. Also if you reach to the drivers back area up in the headliner through the little hole you now have, you can tug a little and get enough to see what the 3rd lamp colors are.

I had my headliner out about a week or two ago when I mounted the overhead console. The wires come up by the windshield, nothing comes up any place else. When I had the dome out it had all 4 colors.. 2 went to the CHMSL. I didn't have blue to my dome.. or so I was thining.. now it seems like GM spliced it. I believe it was white & orange to dome & black & yellow to the CHMSL. The wires for the dome & CHMSL run along the driver's side above the door.

I've got another question.. was it just the SUVs that had the connector under the dash by the fuse box for the bravada's harness to plug into. I wasn't sure if trucks had that provision in their main harness. I tried to look & I can see the black & 2 orange wires run into a connector but it's not the same type of connector.

Mikz86TA

OK, thats right. They do run that route. And those are the correct colors. For your overhead lamps, you should have a seperate 3 pin plug with a White, Orange and Black. Orange will give you 12V there all the time, White is the Grounding Door Trigger and the Black is an additional Ground (ground to chassis) that goes to the buttons for the map lamps. That way they have a stand-alone ground path for when they are to be used with the doors shut.

I unsure about that. I usually just get the overhead and hack the pigtail up n the roof. Its almost impossible to get the entire harness without spending a day on it =) I've got another question.. was it just the SUVs that had the connector under the dash by the fuse box for the bravada's harness to plug into. I wasn't sure if trucks had that provision in their main harness. I tried to look & I can see the black & 2 orange wires run into a connector but it's not the same type of connector.

Yea, well, my gf watched me grab hold of the dash in that bravada & rip it right out.. took about 2 mins & I threw it in the back. Should have seen the look on her face, it was priceless... then I got the pissed off look when she said "you could have warned me to get outta the way!"
