Is the 3rd shock transferable to a truck that never had one?
Is it more of a bolt on kind of deal like the rear sway bar?
My truck is an 03 non zq8 but am in the process of converting it.
Thanks!

You'll need the bracket that goes to the frame.. & then you'll need to drill for it & bolt it on. There should already be a bracket on the rear housing for the shock. IMO the 3rd shock is more expensive & not as good as a set of traction bars. You can order up some fit to the S series for about $110-115.

Well i wasnt sure what would of been better, I have access to a 99 sanoma with the zq8. So i am going to pilfer everything i can.
I was just thinking about that.
Wondering what could be done

I dont think alll diffs had the bracket for it. The diff bracket is a weld on part. The frame as Jason listed is a bolt-in part tho.

IF you all ready have the hop-shok mount on your axle, then i would look for a used hop-shok set up from some one. i got mine from a guy near by for $20 bucks. it took some muscle to get the end of the bilstein into the axle mount, very stiff! all the wholes in the frame rail where all ready there, from what i have heard but not sure its ture most of the hop-shoks came on the 5-speeds ones. and the one i got, this guys S-10 was a 5-speed. so maybe hit the junk yards you never know. before with out it. i like the ride better also, the empty bed feels loaded.

In my case, I chose the axle damping "hop" shock and mounted it to a 2001 axle in my 1985 pickup. Like it was mentioned, the frame bracket is an off the shelf item and is mounted easily to the frame. I then fabricated a bracket to weld to the axle. My truck is a causal driver, but so far, the wheel hop that broke my last ring gear has not retuned. I agree though, a set of traction bars is probably better than the damping shock.

The hop-shock is definately a functional part. But unless you get it for cheap and have the axle with the bracket or make the axle brackets, its not the 1st option Id go with as far as traction devices.
I have the hop-shock stock on my ride. Im thinking of getting an adjustable shock to go in its place if I can find one cheap. I still want to get some trac-bars too. For now I have the leaf clamps (which did little to improve traction). I may get the Hellwig peices to try out as well.
