Finally got off my duff and went out and installed my diff girdle today. Necessary? Hardly, the highway doesnt exactally beat up the rearend, and my limited off road (kept to mild trailriding) isnt exactally a stresser much either, but it was free, and looks damn cool

Looks good I'm still waiting for mine it should get here Thurs/Fri I'll do the Zex and all new wheel studs at the same time gonna try some spacers to see if when I build the 8.5" if I want it a lil wider. Too bad for me the rear tucks up so far the cover wont be seen.

Looks good. That gear oil looks like fu*kin mud tho. Did you pre-load the caps? What is the setting on that? The drain and fills make it easier

much easier. I just ran them down till they were snug, I dont know any specs, and I dont want to overtighten

Yeah I just did the rear on the '65 and it was like 25lbs on the cover and 10-15 inchlbs on the caps basically just snug one thing I learned is to put some blue locktite on the drain plug so you don't have to tighten the hizzy outta it to keep it from leaking also DO NOT use the gasket that comes with the cover if you buy one new just use black rtv silocone. It won't leak that way.

That covers does look damn good. And holy crap does that diff fluid look used, I don't think that's a good sign when it's dripping out like mud color and all.

I found my Zexel on ebay, was a good deal too great condition for like $125. Love what it's done for my 2wd traction (helps in 4x4 on slippery stuff as well).

In my experience when the rear end grease looks muddy its because you have gotten some water in there somehow. My buddies F150 grease looked like that and he found that he had knocked off the vent tube letting water in when he went off road. Cool looking cover by the way free is always the best price!!

The rearend breather on the crews is in a problematic area. It is between the cab and the bed where water runs down on it. Will be re-located shortly
