That isn't back, was that an 1/8 or 1/4 mile track? In my Dime that I had, I was running 13s on the 1/8 and 17s on the 1/4

I think the assumption here was that you were talking 1/4 mile.

Well 1998 SS would be a 190HP 4.3L and would have 3.42s if Auto. What kind of exhaust?? Brand and cat-back, muffler only, etc? How are you launching it? Whats your tire size? just exhaust and its the ss if that makes a difference

raven exhaust which was over $350, stock tire size, k&n air filter not cold air, um thats pretty much all i know is done to it. and im actually tryin to get my reaction time down more. im launching right as the 3rd yellow light lights up. im only spinning a little off the launch and in 2nd but thats only cause the track. im goin back after i get my intake on to see how much of a difference that makes. my friend was runnin against me most of the time in his 240sx with the sr20 det with 6lbs of boost and he was only beatin me by a little under a second on our best runs

If you were to back-to-back now vs. after the intake you will probably notice more throttle response. Which is two fold. You might end up spinning more and negating the initial gain. But it should give you a better initial launch. Nothing amazing tho. But the upper end breathing it where its best suited to have an impact. Now, dont get discouraged if you run slower or the same ETs 1st time out with it. Track conditions from weather, ambient temps and weather in general will cause fluctuations. Thats why I used the term back-to-back. Meaning if you went this weekend, ran 3 to 4 runs to get an average and a best, then put the intake on out there and did the same 3 to 4 runs. That would give you the best conclusion. Of course consistency in RTs, keeping the throttle modulated to not spin or spin as much, etc are going to play a role as well. In my TA back when it was a 305, I used to go to Albany Ga US19 track. 1/8th mile, decent surface thats maintained well. After going a few times and getting baselines, averages and such , I started to do actual test n tunes on the latter trips there. That way I got used to the track on different occasions, learned to be consistent and got many baselines to work from. I started carb tuneing and ignition advances 1st. Then worked on ignition curves and trying new stuff out. Still got all my old slips and would note changes on them for future references. Had alot of fun doing it. A buddy saw that I was consistent this one night in particular at the test n tune, and encouraged me to enter the bracket racing. I placed my dial in, got all the way to the 2nd to last round and redlighted. Couldve won like $100. DANG!! I got anxious and the car next to me was slower, so his tree started 1st, my vision drifted and I started off his tree. Yeah, Im an idiot =( Wish I had a decent track closer here. It was alot of fun!!

I thought they did make a 4cyl SS. Wasn't it just a suspension package? But I don't see where anyone said that in this thread.
