Well I have bought an alarm system witht he remote start. If it is simple enought I will put it in myself (with a lil bit of help of course) but I need to locate the broken one in already. Should I take it in to be done or what?

No real experience but I love working on things. I am not sure what the old one was because I inherited my car from my grandmother after she passed. The old one did not have a remote start either. What kind of problems have you heard of?

Myth. Most good ones like a DEI made brand allow you to adjust the crank time and have anti-grind protection as well. The crank time is less then 1 second preset and you can go up from there.

Well, depending on year you might need an additional part to bypass the pass key on it. Easy to add. I can look at your key and tell. You didnt specify the year, but any year S-series is easy to me. Where you get the wires differs in 98-up versus prior years. Its pretty hard to fu*k up a GM in these eras from 80s to 2004. The newer ones are doing some different stuff that most novices shouldnt attempt B4 understanding clearly. I got no worries myself being highly experienced. If you wanted to try it yourself you will have help here:chef_125: . But its still up to your confidence. And by all means do not get a el-cheapo unit:shake_125

Sounds good... and I forgot about the year, it is an 01. But at least I know if I do start installing it and run into trouble you could help... Greatly appreciated!

Sorry to butt in, but as a small clarification, all modern DEI units have the ability to sense voltage on the vehicle's tach wire and "know" when the vehicle has started based on engine RPM seen as an AC voltage value. Once the RS unit is programmed to this RPM (idle) it will never continue to crank the starter with the engine running. In the future, if the RS then ever loses voltage (ie. battery to the car disconnected) the tach signal might need to be reprogrammed.
Preset crank times are available as a programming option, but IMO should always be avoided if a tach signal wire is available as on this 2001 blazer. You might find the right crank time when you're installing the RS, but cars will always want more or less crank time based on ambient temps, engine's state of tune, etc... etc... Then you might get a remote start that doesn't start the engine sometimes and overcranks other times.
BTW you will have to get a Passlock (I think) bypass module to go with this RS/vehicle combo, but no big deal either. - Mike
