Well, I’m a Mechanical Engineer in Ohio. I can design, build and fix just about anything, or at least I think I can.
About 22 years ago, I had a 1970 Blazer. That was the body style where the entire roof came off. My friends and I had way too much fun prowling the beach front in that thing. In truth, it was a straight six, rust bucket P.O.S., but I enjoyed every minute in or under it.
It was parked along a seawall in Hull, MA in the fall of ’85, when Hurricane Gloria hit. A huge wave came over the wall and on its return, picked up my truck and carried it out into the Atlantic, never to be seen again.
Many years go by, college, got married, had a couple kids, driving a minivan (zzz), and then (10 years ago)…moved into a new house with a pole barn out back, a pole barn just big enough for a small workshop and keep a project car to work on.
So off and on for about the past 10 years, I’ve been looking for another 1970-1972 full size Blazer. Any that I found were either beyond help or completed super high dollar restorations.
It occurred to me that I might be able to un-roof a 1st generation S10 Blazer 2-door and make a smaller version of my beloved truck. I know it will be a difficult task and require a lot of planning and welding, but I’m up for the challenge.
My victim, a loaded 1994 S10 Blazer, 4.3 Vortec, has engine top end problems and isn’t running at the moment. The seller said it was just a leaking intake gasket, but I suspect worse.
I probably just lurk and read for a while, but you can expect a flood of questions once I crack open that engine.
