Hood cable replacement?

I was going to replace my snapped cable the other day but I looked at it anbd cant figure out how to get the plastic trim stuff off. Once I get the plastic trim off it should be easy to just feed the cable through right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just get a whole cable w/shield from wreckers. Easier

I picked up a cable and sheild for my first gen from the salvage yard for $3.
