Installing a Roll Pan

What a beautiful truck! The leaves add an extra 35hp. Just kidding. The first step to install the roll pan is to remove the bumper. Notice it sitting in the bed. The second step is to remove the spare tire. It won't be accessable after the installation of the roll pan. One might think cleaning the truck is important but not us. The tail gate also has to come out.

Drill a few holes in the lip of the roll pan. Then have a friend hold the roll pan up to the truck and mark on the truck where the holes in the roll pan are. Then predrill the holes in the truck bed. Use some screws to attach the pan to the bed and you are all set. From the back of the rollpan drill some holes threw the pan into the bed corners. Put a screw in each side to keep the pan from swinging.

This is a Summit Racing fiberglass roll pan and it sucks. This hieght dimension is way to small. About 3/4" too small. Two pieces of 3/8" brought the pan far enough away from the bed to line up the outside of the pan and the bed. What wasn't noticed till later is that when the tailgate is open there is a little clearance problem due to the shims. The tailgate opens all the way, barely.

It definately makes the rear end of this truck. geovisit();http://visit.geocities.com/visit.gif?&r=http%3A//www.buildyourride.com/tech.html&b=Microsoft%20Internet%20Explorer%204.0%20%28compa tible%3B%20MSIE%206.0%3B%20Windows%20NT%205.1%3B%2 0SV1%3B%20.NET%20CLR%201.0.3705%3B%20.NET%20CLR%20 1.1.4322%29&s=1024x768&o=Win32&c=32&j=true&v=1.2 http://visit.webhosting.yahoo.com/visit.gif?us1103434143http://geo.yahoo.com/serv?s=76001404&t=1103434143
