So I missed this thread when I posted to your reply in the other one. Have you had it wheelin' yet? How'd it go?

hey! i have a 2002 s10 4x4 ls extended cab and have been looking for a 4" suspension lift for months. can you tell me where you got that?

it's actually a 2" suspension and 2" body combined. He talked about it a little here....
http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=97869#post97869
If I remember correctly, he didn't use a kit, but pieced some stuff together. As far as kits, you're only going to find a 2" and 6". The 2" kits are made by superlift or rough country. The 6" kit by superlift. BDS makes one that is called a 5" front and 4.5" rear. I'm pretty sure same idea as the 6" kit, but they're just not as generous in their measurements.

That's all the lift i want to achieve with mine...OK, let's face it; i want the 6", but the 2 and 2 is my runner up. I'm just not sure if i can justify the cost of a 6". That being said, are you noticing anymore wear on suspension, tires, or driveline components? I can't really see he balljoints truly wearing out anymore and the a-arms should allow me to adjust camber enough so the tires will be fine. My concern, i guess, lays in the axles, the torsion bars...?
Do you guys think piecing together a 2" susp lift with new stronger t-bars is the way to go? And the add-a-leaf should make it stronger and haul more, right?

apparently no one is watching this anymore.....?

I'm totally watching it. I hadn't gotten my daily updates yet, but I happened by anyway.
As far as the axles, there may be some danger. I've had a bit of problem with mine, but I went a little beyond the recommended amount. A while back, a few of us had discussed the idea of a front differential drop plate/bracket/mount to help correct the angle of the CV's. They can take some pretty rough angles, but we always want just a little more, right? ;)
I don't think different t-bars are needed. According to superlift they think the stock ones will work just fine. Beyond what they have to say, when you say stronger, I think more stiff, and since you're cranking them up anyway, I don't think you'd want the extra stiffness from both aspects. Just cranking them will probably make it stiff enough for your taste.
As far as the rear, are you really thinking that you'll be hauling a lot? I don't think the s10 w/ add a leaf really has enough weight in the rear to justify it. I'd look more at shackles and then if you think you need more lift, get a set of drop mounts for the front of the leaf.

Thanks for the reply, and good info.
So, has anyone made a drop plate for the front? I'm sure someone on here has made the attempt.....
I guess by stronger; i meant, more resistance to fatigue. I just think the factory ones would "stretch" easier.
As for hauling; i may be hauling from time to time, but let's just start with main weight of my R6 for an example. Just to get it to not sag when the bike goes in there would be fine, so i'm sure it wouldn't take too much to prevent that.
I'm interested in the front leaf drop mounts...! I had thought about taking a set from a ZR2, but i realized just how much of a PITA it would be get them off at the yard since they are riveted AND welded to the frame. Can i locate aftermarket ones from somewhere?

I haven't heard of anyone actually doing the drop plate for the front diff. But if someone has, please speak up. That might be the kind of thing that a local off road shop or fab shop could help with. I hear dropping the front diff is quite a chore, too.
So are you saying that the R6 squats your truck quite a bit as it is? My blazer is pretty bouncy in the back w/ my extra leaf in there. Just seems that it'd be quite a bit worse w/out the rear weight the blazer has.
There was a member here that had posted front drop mount drawings that he had done. He's in business for this kind of stuff, but I can't find his username or the drawings now. His site is www.3leaffab.com and his email is on there. Try emailing him about them to see if he's selling them yet. Yeah, to get those off at the yard, you'd probably have to cut the frame and take them somewhere so you could do the actual work to free them safely. I tried looking through the LMC catalog to see if they would sell the part for the ZR2, but I don't see it, so I guess it's considered part of the frame; probably be the same story if you went to a dealer.
Keep us posted on what you decide, or if you need more advice.

I'm not so sure it would be that hard to drop it, but i'm also not sure just how much we would be talking just to lower it for a 2" lift setup to keep angles right. I assume just 2". I'm guessing making the plate is the hard part.......
To be honest; i'm really not too sure. I had the bike in the when i originally picked it up, but i cannot recall if it sank or not.
I'll look into the rear pieces again, but i am a Chevrolet tech, and i'm pretty sure i had parts look them up for me before.....so, yes, i believe they are part of the frame.

Anyone have any luck with Doetsch products?

Sorry, another couple of things popped into mind....
are the ZR2 front stabilizer and torsion bars stronger?
I've heard the ZR2 has a 28 or 33mm stabilizer. I'd swap the 33 into my truck, but i thought the ZR2 was also wider....?
TreasonAgainstCaesar

Yeah, i'd say 2" would take care of it to keep the angles same as factory. Or maybe you don't have to do quite 2" and they should be good. Or maybe do the 2" diff drop and then crank the tbars more than 2". Heck... I'm no pro at this stuff.
I looked at Doetsch products site and they only had 4x2 lifts for the s series.
From what i can gather about the front sway bar they were either 33mm (early model) or 28mm (late model). but as far as how that mounts, I'm not sure it's wider than the non-zr2. I have never heard any specs stating that the torsion bars are different, but I could be wrong. If they were different, then the zr2 would have to use different lower control arms unless it still tapered to the same size at that point.
Nice Ride. Tese Dimes look good with lifts. Thats what is so cool about trucks, they look good up on stilts or in the weeds. There are so many sweet looking rides on this site. Everyone should be very proud of the trucks they have created!!! Good work ladies and gentlemen.

thanks every one on the truck, sorry i forgot about this thread, and whats the word on fabbin a drop diff plate, IM IN!! that would be awesome. I have lift keys in the front that i have no turned the bolts at all on them. I could make more lift just need to correct geometry so i wont break boots. If i dropped the diff I could get 33s under there I think...
Nice, very similar to my 2002 s10 http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc72/Tag277/DarrellsS10001-1.jpg

Cheapest i've found for a 5+ lift:

no one else has found one cheaper?!
Hey i didnt spend much money on my lift in my s10 as i spent all the money i had on the rims and tires lol. All i did was a torsion bar crank added a leaf and did a 2 inch body lift. With that i still had to notch the inside of the fender to make my tires clear. My tires are Maxxis bighorn's (31X10.50R15LT) mounted on Pro comp xtream alloy beadlock style rims. I love the maxxis tires but they dont last long lol

Sorry, that's the cheapest I've seen. When I was pricing out my 2" kit, the best price I could find was from www.rockymountainsusp.com (the phone price was cheaper than the web advertised price), but I checked on their 6" superlift kit, and the kit you posted was cheaper.
