the other night i was parking at a parking garage and went to roll down my window to take the ticket and the window didn't go down....so with a little bit of trouble shooting i think i have it narrowed down to the switch, because when you hold the button down my dash lights dim, and it still does that when i hold the button to go up, but when i push to roll them down i have no action what-so-ever, so my plan is to take the little panel out of my mom's jimmy to see if its that...any other thoughts?

take the button from the other window, test it...or not even the other window, just the other switch in the same door panel...this way you wont have to take it out of your moms jimmy. if the other switch doesnt work, from there i'd go on to seeing if the motor is working...is it only 1 window, or all of them? and has it always dimmed?

yea it is just that window, the others all work, and yes it does dim my dash lights if i push up if its already up, its a slight dim...but i see it in the dark

try the switch, then let us know...start easy, then work up into the more involved stuff

yuh drivability problems seem to be a major over a window as that is more of an annoying inconvieniance, get that fixed and let us know how it goes bro.

yea i think that sounds like a plan but i was gonna pull the switches off of my moms jimmy and see whats up......

no matter what if you push the switch to the limit it is supposed to go it will dim because u are using the power but not getting anymore action..just overdrawing...the thing is..is it a bad switch or the window motor itself, i recently had to have mine replaced as well..about 4 months ago it did the same thing. use your other switch from the other door and test..if you still get no response from the window its your motor!

ok, thanks pitchblackblzr....i think that sounds like a plan, i'm off to do it right now

d*** it, i guess its the motor after all, the switches didn't do anything when i swapped them, and just for safe checking i pulled the panel out of my moms and that didn't work either, so pitchblackblzr was it your motor as well? and if so how bad is the swap, the local shop has three in stock so i am going to drop by tomorrow after work

Its more of a pain to remove the paneling than it is for the actual motor swap, and yes it was my motor at that time as well thats why after tryin the opposite switch check I just changed it out.

those window motors arnt that bad of a job. i did the one in my old bravada like 6 months ago. once you take the pannel off the door you should try and save the plastic sheet. if you leave it off you will notice alot more road noise. plus be sure to bloce the spring on the regulator i almost broke my thumb.
