I guess I just thought if anybody was going to go through the work of putting a SBC in a S10, they would put in a 350. It's exactly the same external size.

I would rather have a 4.3 than a 305.You have the stroke of a 350 in a 305 but tiny ass piston bores that aint worth ****.One of if not the worst engine GM every came up with in my opinion.GM 305 a 3.48 stroke and a 3.736 in bore.What a crock.They should have kept and improved on the 302 that once kicked out the power.A 3.0 stroke with a 4.0 bore.Short stroke for high revving and large bore.That is actually what made the Mustang crowd grow.The Ford 302 had basically the same design in bore and stroke.And for what it's worth the Ford 302 was leaps and bounds a better design than the GM 305.If GM would have improved on the GM 302 it could have been a good engine over the 305.I say 350 anyday but I would have rather had a GM 302 than a 305.

The 305 was more or less based off the 1967-69 GM 307 w/ the tiny bore.
