Welcome to the Planet.. & I can honestly say IDK anything about the 2.2s & 2.4s, except that they're 4 cylinders.

ya im pretty sure the 2.2 2.4 and maybe even the 3.1 in the cavaliers anywyas use the same transmissions ...but they would be different becouse of the front wheel drive but i am pretty sure they will all bolt up like the trans on my s-10 with a 2.2 5spd should be able to bolt onto a 2.4 ? im thinkin i will look into it good question

well if they bolt up to the same fwd tranny then they will bolt up the to same rwd tranny, but its only about 25 more horsepower, i dunno if its worth it

Different. The S10 2.2 has a 60* bolt pattern. Which is like a 2.8 or 3.1 V6. The Ecotech FWD has a totally different bolt pattern. I think the 2.4 Ecotech FWD is in the same boat as its 2.2 brethern. There is a company named Keisler Engeneering that makes a Ecotech to Tremec 5sp bellhousing. http://www.kitcarmag.com/techarticles/general/142_0505_keisler_engineering_engine_transmission_m ate/index.html
