ok i have been thinking about doing a few small things to my truck. i have a dreaded TBI 4.3 in a 1994 s-10. i have been thinking about getting the Edelbrock performer intake manifold. the only mods i currently have is a caddy CAI and stock muffler with cat removed. only reason i removed the cat is i drug though it when i broke a hanger and i didnt know. anyway would this be worth it? the truck just i dont know seems boggy. they Y pipe is a little flattened from laying out on it. that will be replaced within the month. i have also been toying with the idea of a higher flowing muffler. i just been lurkin around reading posts and i heard this manifold gives a decent low end boost. doing this as well as the egr limiter and maybe a chip or a chip tune. thanks

also i dont want to run a electric fan due to the current draw. im already over running my charging system at times with my stereo and air compressors.

Cost is always an issue when trying to squeeze more HP out of a 4.3L. How much do you want to spend? You can get some decent numbers from a 4.3 but the cost out weighs the benefits.
BTW the e-fan will not give you any noticable performance gains but will give you a couple extra MPG.

ya i had a e-fan for a bit but i took it off cuz i burnt up a alt and a battery. so i took off a few things that took power. i know it takes money i went for performance in my 94 ss s-10 i had a few years back. that cpi 4.3 and this tbi 4.3 is night and day dif. im just trying to make the truck more drivable.

edit: also i do know about the 96 on up head swap. thats more then im wanting to do with this motor. just a few bolt on and i can live with it.

Well, if you run the intake, you have to run a chip... and DO NOT cut the TB gasket like they tell you to... I did that and had a lot of problems... or maybe that was just me. I'm not sure the work is worth it if you are just doing the intake... could go with a better flowing exhaust and a tb spacer to start...

Gears do wonders for these motors... what gears do you have now?

Could be 3.08s or 3.42s... those are typical... check the RPO codes in the glovebox to find out...
RPO Gear Codes are:
GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10

My old 2wd Blazer had 3.08s that I swapped out for 3.42s and the gear change made a lot of difference!

If ur only wanting some decent power without going broke, try a CAI, custom exhaust, tb spacer, hypertech chip, and X2 on the gears... 3.73's are what i had in my 89 4.3 s-10, and man what a big diff. it made. I had the Edelbrock intake, but i also had so much other stuff done to my truck that i couldn't tell a huge diff. I personally would skip on the intake unless u are gonna do a lot more to the motor. Have u thought about headers?:D
