this question is for anyone who has dropped their truck either with springs, spindles, blocks, or leafs. after you did your drop did you cut off the bump stops or did you leave them on? ive heard that cutting them off improves ride quality. i figured id ask the gurus in here to get the straight story.

I have a Blazer Xtreme so it is lowered from the factory. The top of the front bump stop was about 1/4" from hitting frame. I felt every little bump in the road. I bought Toxic shocks and cut a little off my factory bump stops (front and rear), not too much cause the shocks will bottom out and that can lead to shock damage. Alot smoother ride. I used to go over rough RR tracks and the whole back end would jump around; not anymore. If you use blocks in the rear you will have to cut the rear ones or else you may not get the block in there, atleast thats the case on my Blazer. I can't put a 3" block under my rearend with out cutting my bump stops. Haven't done it yet but will drop it 2"/3" soon. Spindles in the front and blocks in th rear.

I have a 2/3 drop using spindles and leafs. I still have the bump stops on and the ride is smooth, the only reasion I would remove them is if I need more of a squat during racing for traction.

thanks for the replies guys. im running a 2/3 drop with spindles and blocks. my ride quality is alot better than it used to be when my truck was at stock height. the way i figure it is the roads where i live suck so i dont really think cutting them completely off or altering them in any way will help much. besides when i bag my truck im gonna be draggin it rather than caring about every single bump in the road.

when i lower an s-10, i usually "trim" the bump stops, or depending how low, take them all the way off

If your using spindals just leave the fronts as is.I had cut mine off like 1/2" to 3/4" and it hit the wheel well more.So i bought some new one's from autozone. Now the rear you can cut/grind off the bump stop bracket and buy some 1 1/2" bump's.Im running 5" of drop in the rear and use 1" stops.

i lowered my truck during the summer and never cut anything off the bumpstops and i have a 3/4 drop with toxic shocks....i feel every **** bump in the road and never had netime to cut them so now i finally got the time so 2morro the bumpstops go under the knife......any1 else think that the toxic shocks ride a lil rough?? i think they do but the bumpstops may also b playin a part in that bcuz if i stand on my rear bumper it hits the bumpstops and i only weigh 160lbs.

I like the toxic shocks. If you trim the bump stops you won't feel all those bumps as bad. Theres not enough travel for the suspension to move with out hitting the BS, and thats when you feel it. If anybody has an xtreme you know what I mean. The BS's in the front have like a 1/2 inch travel and the one on the driver side is almost touching the frame. The toxic shocks are a little stiffer than the stock ones, you probably noticed that when you put them on. All the characteristics of the toxic shocks make them far better than the stock shocks(my opinion).

How much, I have a zq8 im dropping 3" in the back, but im also stepping up to a 1.5" taller tire in the rear. Everyone says to take it out, I too thought all I need to do it trim it with a hacksaw or a dremel. What do you think?
