Yeah they look tons better than new. After the mods I did to these and the coating, they will perform much better. Edelbrocks coating sucks from the factory. Yep, going on the 2001 Xtreme.

Re: My exhaust upgrade

OK, worked a little bit last night. Got the headers installed. The drivers side is a big PITA working around the brake lines. I should have listened to you guys and removed that heat shield. Getting that spark plug in there is a pain. The EGR tube didn't line up well so I'm just going to take it all off and cap it off. I'll leave the air pump lines capped off for now. I used Felpro gaskets and ARP SS bolts.

Got 3 parts Tig welded today during my lunch break. This section of the exhaust will bolt inline to the Collector off the Y pipe. It just needs flanges welded on either end now. A Steel Fabricator Company called CT&S in Irving did it for me. I know the owner pretty well and he didn’t charge me to do it. Since the cut out is polished nice, Tig looks better than Mig. His welder, Robert did a good job.

Re: My exhaust upgrade

Very nice! You wouldnt happen to know how old or how many miles they had on them when you bought them do you? I wanna get a set of these one day and I'm wondering how long it took to get the way they were before you had them coated. Thats if I buy some new. I'd rather get'em used and have them coated.

I bought them used for $200 shipped. They were a year old, low mileage on them. They are like $450 new from summitracing.com. I modified them, welded on them a little, and sent them to Jet-hot. They were sandblasted and acid dipped, then coated twice on the outside, one coat on the inside. They are now built better than before. The coating is amazing. I can touch the headers when hot while the engine is running.
